Gloucester volleyball swept at Swampscott; Rockport boys soccer falls 1 to 0 at North Reading

Volleyball: Swampscott 3, Gloucester 0

Gloucester's three match winning streak ended at Swampscott on Thursday, Oct. 1. The Big Blue swept the Fishermen in a Northeastern Conference match, according to MaxPreps. Set scores were not posted.

Gloucester is 4 and 6 overall and 1 and 3 in the NEC. Swampscott improved to 5 and 4.

Gloucester visits KIPP Academy Lynn Collegiate on Monday, Oct. 5, at 5:30 p.m. and plays Minuteman on Tuesday, Oct. 6. Saugus comes to Gloucester High on Thursday, Oct. 8, at 5:45 p.m.

Boys soccer: North Reading 1, Rockport 0

Rockport's defense kept North Reading off the board for a half, but the Hornets scored the only goal after the break to win 1 to 0 at home Thursday. The Cape Ann League match was scoreless at halftime, according to MaxPreps. Scorers were not posted.

The Vikings, two days removed from a five goal comeback against Georgetown, fell to 3 and 6 with a tie overall and 3 and 4 with a tie in the league. North Reading is 7 and 2.

Rockport plays Manchester Essex on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 6 p.m. Ipswich visits Rockport on Thursday, Oct. 8, at 6 p.m.
