Gloucester field hockey beats Danvers 5 to 2, stays perfect before Beverly showdown
The Fishermen are 8 and 0 and host Beverly on Tuesday in a meeting of the Northeastern Conference's only two unbeaten teams.
Gloucester's field hockey team is still perfect.
The Fishermen beat Danvers 5 to 2 at home Thursday, Oct. 1, to improve to 8 and 0. It was a Northeastern Conference game, and Gloucester is now 5 and 0 in the league. Danvers fell to 3, 3 and 1.
The teams traded goals in the first half before Gloucester took control after the break, the team said in a post on its GHS Field Hockey Facebook page. The post credited the goals by first name only: two from Fi, two from Jules and one from Emme.
Danvers' two goals matched the most Gloucester has allowed in a game this season, set in a 7 to 2 win over Malden Catholic on Sept. 22. The Fishermen have outscored their opponents 38 to 5 this season.
