Weekly roundup: Gloucester field hockey reaches 10 and 0, football beats Salem, and Rockport and Gloucester split a soccer doubleheader

Gloucester's field hockey team ran its record to 10 and 0 with two more shutouts, and its football team beat Salem on Senior Night. Rockport and Gloucester split Saturday's soccer doubleheader. Here are the varsity results from Oct. 4 through Saturday, from the MIAA's official scores, and the week ahead.

Gloucester

Field hockey beat Beverly 1 to 0 at home on Oct. 6 and won 5 to 0 at Danvers on Oct. 9. The Fishermen are 10 and 0 and play at Beverly on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. Read the Beverly story and the Danvers story.

Football beat Salem 35 to 17 at Newell Stadium on Oct. 9 and is 4 and 1. Swampscott visits Friday at 7 p.m. Read the story.

Volleyball swept KIPP Academy Lynn 3 to 0 on the road Oct. 5 and swept Saugus 3 to 0 at home Oct. 8. Read Thursday's results.

Boys soccer lost 2 to 0 to Marblehead at home Oct. 5, then shut out Winthrop 3 to 0 at home Oct. 7 and Rockport 1 to 0 on Saturday. Read Wednesday's results.

Girls soccer lost 6 to 0 at Marblehead on Oct. 5, 4 to 0 at Winthrop on Oct. 7 and 3 to 1 to Rockport at home Saturday.

Golf lost to Danvers (43.5 to 28.5), Marblehead (47 to 25) and Swampscott (41.5 to 30.5).

Manchester Essex

Field hockey beat Rockport 6 to 0 at home Oct. 5 and Amesbury 3 to 0 on the road Oct. 7, then lost 7 to 0 to Sandwich at home Saturday. The Hornets are 8 and 3 with a tie. Read Monday's results.

Boys soccer shut out Rockport 2 to 0 on the road Oct. 6 and Amesbury 4 to 0 at home Oct. 8. Read Tuesday's results.

Girls soccer beat Rockport 6 to 2 at home Oct. 6, then lost 2 to 1 at Amesbury on Oct. 8 and 2 to 1 to Salem at home Saturday.

Football, which includes Rockport players, lost 14 to 8 at Hamilton-Wenham on Oct. 9 and is 0 and 5. The Hornets play at Triton on Friday at 6:30 p.m.

Golf beat Georgetown 156 to 107 and lost to Amesbury 155 to 136. In cross country against Amesbury at Ravenswood Park, the girls won 19 to 38 and the boys lost 26 to 31 (the lower score wins).

Rockport

Girls soccer beat Gloucester 3 to 1 on the road Saturday after losses at Manchester Essex (6 to 2) on Oct. 6 and at Ipswich (1 to 0) on Oct. 8.

Boys soccer lost 2 to 0 to Manchester Essex at home Oct. 6, 3 to 1 to Ipswich at home Oct. 8 and 1 to 0 at Gloucester on Saturday.

Field hockey lost 6 to 0 at Manchester Essex on Oct. 5 and 5 to 0 at Ipswich on Oct. 7, then tied Haverhill 1 to 1 at home Oct. 9. The Vikings are 2 and 7 with three ties.

Golf lost to Ipswich 142 to 134 at home and beat Georgetown 154 to 93 on the road.
