We just launched. The Cape Ann Current is brand new, so new stories may not post every day while we get up to speed. Thanks for reading, and send us your news.
Cape Ann Current: Keeping Cape Ann current

Free daily news for Gloucester, Rockport, Essex and Manchester-by-the-Sea

Share your library's story

For library directors, trustees, staff and Friends groups on Cape Ann. Send us your answer to a reader's question, corrections, photos or a short audio or video clip for our library series.

On Saturday, Oct. 17, the Cape Ann Current will publish a story about why Cape Ann still needs its public libraries, with a profile of each library in Gloucester, Rockport, Essex and Manchester-by-the-Sea. It started when a reader asked, "With the internet, why do we still need libraries?" We would like your answer in your own words.

About photos. For now, the stories use older photos that are free to publish, such as public domain or Creative Commons pictures, because we never use a photo unless we have the right to. If you have current photos of your library that you own or have permission to share, please send them here. We will credit the photographer.

Replies by Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 5 p.m. can go into the first stories. Anything that arrives later may be added after they run. Questions? Email [email protected].

Your library
Your words

We may quote this in the story and in your library's profile.

Tell us what to fix, what we missed, programs or services we should mention, and where the right information can be found.

Photos and clips

The building, inside spaces, programs or staff. Please do not send photos of children unless their parents have agreed.

For example, you or your staff giving a quick tour or inviting people to visit. A minute or two is plenty. A phone recording is fine.

About you

Your email and phone are only for us to follow up. We never publish them.
