Good morning, Essex. It's Sunday, October 4. From the Cape Ann Current, I'm Kerry Jane, with your Essex Daily Brief. Today we look at the week ahead in town meetings and high school sports.

Looking at the week ahead in town government. On Monday, the Manchester Essex School Council meets at 3:15 p.m. On Tuesday, the Council on Aging board meets. On Wednesday, October 7, the Board of Selectmen holds a joint meeting with the Finance Committee, and a regular meeting. On Thursday, October 8, the selectmen meet again, and the Essex School Building Committee holds a community meeting at 6 p.m. at Essex Elementary School.
The Cape Ann Symphony plays its 75th anniversary concert today at 2 p.m. at Manchester Essex Regional High School. The concert was postponed during last weekend's storm. Adult tickets are 65 dollars, and tickets bought for the original date are good today.
On Tuesday, guitarist Scott Ouellette plays a classical program at the TOHP Burnham Public Library from 7 to 8 p.m.
In high school sports, the Manchester Essex football team fell to Amesbury 46 to 8 on Friday. The Hornets are now 0 and 4. Tomorrow, the field hockey team hosts Rockport at 4 p.m. On Tuesday, the girls soccer team hosts Rockport at 4 p.m., the golf team hosts Georgetown at 3:30 p.m., and the boys soccer team travels to Rockport at 6 p.m.
The National Weather Service expects a mostly sunny day today with a high near 60, followed by a chance of showers tonight. High tides in the Essex River run about five to 14 minutes later than Gloucester Harbor, where high tides are at 5:58 a.m. and 6:18 p.m. today.
