Good morning, Manchester by the Sea. It's Sunday, October 4. From the Cape Ann Current, I'm Kerry Jane, with your Manchester by the Sea Daily Brief. Today we are following a fatal boating accident off Singing Beach.

Looking at the week ahead for local boards. On Tuesday, the Manchester Essex schools Finance Subcommittee meets at 12 p.m., followed by the School Committee at 6 p.m. On Friday, October 9, the school district's Communications Working Group meets at 11:30 a.m.

One man died and another was missing after a 30 foot fishing boat took on water off Singing Beach on Saturday afternoon. Three men and a dog were on board. A 67 year old man died at Beverly Hospital, and a 65 year old was flown to Massachusetts General Hospital in critical condition. The dog was found alive. Multiple agencies searched into the night for the missing 37 year old.

The Cape Ann Symphony plays its rescheduled 75th anniversary concert today at 2 p.m. at Manchester Essex Regional High School. Looking ahead, the Essex School Building Committee holds a community meeting on Tuesday, October 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Manchester Memorial Elementary School.

In local events, the Monday Writing Group meets tomorrow from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Public Library. Also tomorrow, the Manchester Essex girls field hockey team hosts Rockport at 4 p.m.

In high school sports, varsity teams had the weekend off. In Friday night football, Manchester Essex fell to Amesbury 46 to 8, dropping the Hornets to 0 and 4.

The National Weather Service expects a mostly sunny day today with a high near 60, a 40 percent chance of showers tonight, and a milder, breezy Monday.
