Voters in Manchester by the Sea and Essex will be asked to approve a 95.3 million dollar elementary school project at town meetings on November 16, then in ballot votes on December 10. The proposed Essex school would cost about 1,038 dollars per square foot. That is more than any of six comparable new elementary schools priced by the state since mid 2024, which range from 726 to 964 dollars.

Also tomorrow, the Manchester Historic District Commission meets at 6 p.m. to discuss a proposed sign bylaw and a plan for a new structure at 11 and 13 Ashland Avenue.

Today in town, a live painting demonstration with Rosalie Sidoti runs from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Sharksmouth Estate. Also starting at noon, the Manchester by the Sea Museum hosts a teen art afternoon focused on sculpting.
