State voter guides arrive ahead of the November 3 election

Good morning, Rockport. It's Sunday, October 11. From the Cape Ann Current, I'm Kerry Jane, with your Rockport Daily Current, free public information for Rockport. Today we look at the state's voter guide for the upcoming election.

In Rockport public meetings this week, the Council on Aging meets Tuesday at 5 p.m. The Affordable Housing Trust meets Wednesday, October 14, at 6:30 p.m. On Thursday, October 15, the Board of Health and the school's S E P A C meet at 5:30 p.m., and the Planning Board meets at 6:30 p.m.
The deadline to register to vote in the November 3 state election is Saturday, October 24. Early voting runs from October 17 to October 30. The state says every household should have received a printed voter booklet in September. The guide covers the nine statewide ballot questions and is also available online.
In Rockport today, the Cape Ann Community Cinema has showings through the day. Check the theater's website for times. Tonight's 5 p.m. show at Upstairs on Main, with Abigail Rose and Melanie MacLaren, is sold out.
In Rockport high school sports, girls soccer beat Gloucester 3 to 1 on Saturday, while boys soccer lost 1 to 0 at Gloucester. The field hockey team tied Haverhill 1 to 1 on Friday. They play at Newburyport tomorrow morning at 10 a.m.
The Weather Service expects mostly cloudy skies today with a high near 60, likely rain tonight, and a partly sunny Columbus Day tomorrow with a high near 63. Rockport's high tides are just after noon today, and about 1 p.m. tomorrow.
