Good morning, Gloucester. It's Thursday, October 15. From the Cape Ann Current, I'm Kerry Jane, with your Gloucester Daily Current, free public information for Gloucester. Today, a look at where the city's beach money goes.

Money from beach parking and resident stickers goes into the city's general fund, according to Gloucester's budget books. The fund pays for city government, including the costs of running the beaches. The city budgeted about 3.02 million dollars in beach revenue this year.

The Department of Public Works began flushing water mains on Wednesday to switch the pipes' disinfectant to chlorine for two to five weeks. The city says you may notice a chlorine smell. If your water looks discolored, run the cold tap.

The city's free Halloween party at Stage Fort Park is now on Sunday, October 18, from noon to 3 p.m. Police announced the change on Wednesday because of an expected coastal storm.

A Planning Board Subcommittee meets at 3 p.m. today. The Gloucester Lyceum Committee meets at 5 p.m. at 9 Dale Avenue.

The Cape Ann Museum offers a free tour of the Captain Elias Davis House tomorrow at 2 p.m.

On Wednesday, the field hockey team shut out Marblehead 3 to 0, and boys soccer tied Tewksbury 2 to 2. Tomorrow night, the football team hosts Swampscott at 7 p.m.

The National Weather Service expects a sunny Thursday with a high near 58, and wind gusts up to 26 miles per hour. High tides in Gloucester Harbor are at 2:50 a.m. and 2:56 p.m. today.
