Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I will give the tip, like, I feel so important. Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Put you on a phone book or something. Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Okay, so in case we don't have… I can't believe it. Speaker 2 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): today. Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): That you want to be part of it. So then. Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I was just telling these guys how to do it. Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): You're walking dogs, right? Yeah. I was there over an hour because it was just gorgeous. My favorite time of year. Not one time you want to go home. Everybody's still open most of the morning.
I'll estimate how long after a couple of hours. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): You know how many it's gonna be. Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): be, depending upon what's going on in Los Angeles. Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yep. Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Hey? Good morning. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Today is Wednesday, October the 7th, 2026 and it is roughly 9:30 in the evening and we are meeting on the 2nd floor conference room. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): of the Rose Baker Center for Aging. Well, for the purposes of the recording secretary, it can be open. The meeting by, roll call, beginning with Barry? Barry McKay. Speaker 2 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Sam Silvera. Rosalina Castro. Susan Goodall.
Speaker 2 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Felicia what? Dominique Curley. Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Billy Sanagra. Betty Monroe. Speaker 2 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): That's right, Cal. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Fred, may I have an agenda? Yes, I'm sorry. I should pass this on agendas and also minutes if anybody joining remotely or. Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I think Tony may have said he had to miss today, but he's got, I just sent that. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I forgot the panel. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Boston invites until, like, quarter past 9 this morning, but so… Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): If he does want to join remotely, he'll see one in his email.
Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Elise, could you pass the recording down just a bit? Pass what? My machine recording. Make it a little more central. Yeah. Thank you. Let's see. Seeing nobody in the. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Isaac, anybody coming in on Zoom for comments? I don't see. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Anybody, panelist invites went out to the. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): To the board, but just this morning, Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I don't see anybody that didn't get a pin list. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): on the agenda would be approval of the minutes of September the 2nd. Barry, may I have a motion by you to approve the minutes in that you chaired that meeting?
Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yes. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Okay, I'm going to go through the minutes, so… Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): September the second. Thank you. May I have a second? I'll second. Thank you, Suzanne. Any further discussion? Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): This… now, because we're all here, we can do this by voice vote. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): It's only if there's a member coming in on Zoom. So all those in favor say aye. Aye. Both good. Ayes have it. Great. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Rebranding of the Rose Baker Center. So the rebranding is still kind of trickling. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): To a close, finding places where we still need to, just…
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): correct, correct people. You know, silly little, silly little places, but still. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): The main thing right now that the rebranding is still working on is the Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Website launch, and I think, is that elsewhere on the agenda, Fred? No. No, okay, it's the website launch. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): and, updating Unleash the Power of Age. So, the updating of Unleash the Power of Age is coming along. I'm excited. We've got a nice Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): We're gonna be shooting in a new set. They have, like, an area that's kind of in the front of the studio, so you see the street, people walking by, and cars and stuff. They've been shooting some stuff there, we're gonna shoot there, and I've ordered a nice big,
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): thing of our logo, just on canvas, kind of like they stretch the photographs on canvas to hang up. So we've got the… just the logo. It's not gonna say anything, it's just gonna be the anchor and the… and the rose, to serve as kind of the artwork between Jennifer Lee and I. And, we're gonna shoot the first Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): episode that'll feature a new intro, all new. The collage was very, very dated from Unleash the Power of Age, so Jennifer Lee has been working hard on that. It's a lot of work to, to do that, whatever the software is that does that. I think it's a little bit, involved. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): So she's been working on that. We're going to, I'm going to go in on the 15th. We're going to shoot in the new studio. And then the first episode after that will feature the new intro, and we'll talk about the rebranding on Unleash the Power of Age.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): The website is, taking some good kind of leaps forward. I think, Susan, I would love to set up a meeting with you. One of the first things, that I've been told Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Oh. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I should try to pull together as some very brief bios of the board. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): you guys are all okay with that? And I wondered, Susan, if I might tap you for some assistance with that. And then I have, a whole list of content that needs to be developed, and then just fed into the, what kind of wireframes, and and maybe we can set up a meeting and talk about that, too. Yep. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): So, so that is coming along. And then another thing that, I don't know if it could be considered part of the branding, but I guess so, so we were the recipient of a very, very generous, gift to our donations account, and that, one of the things that I thought I would do with that gift, it was a $10,000 gift.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And I got a quote from the painter who paint… who did the painting that was associated with the rebranding. And we finally are going to have the opportunity, I think, to bring a little bit of that rebranding up to the second floor. I don't know if any of you ever noticed, but if you sit in this… in staff's… the full-time staff's offices. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): The walls look horrible. The walls in here don't look great now that I'm looking at it too. But, but I think when people, you know, when people come in and they sit down for assistance, they, they. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): you know, number one, I think it's bad for staff morale to sit in those offices and just have it look chavvy, and I think it's bad for the folks who come and sit and meet with the staff, because they, you know, I think subconsciously, it kind of just sends a message. So, one thing we could do
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): for a chunk of that gift is to get the staff's offices repainted, which, of course, we'll do with an accent wall that'll be in the colors, so it's a little bit of the rebranding still, in that effort. And, and then we're still figuring out some really cool things to do with, with the other part of that gift, which I'll address in my director's report. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And I think that is it. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): That's a lot. We're off to a good start. Monique! Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Okay. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Sure. Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Use the updates that we provided the mayor's office as well.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Anybody really helpful? All right. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): My classic form like speaking slowly. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Word 5. Septic compliance continues. As you know, we're reaching out to every ward, and reaching out to properties that are non-compliant to their function checks, because of course, if you have a septic system, and the… you're not properly managing it, you have the risk of Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): pollution and pretty harmful germs heading to our waters. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And so it's pretty important that our residents are compliant for that. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): To date, over 205 non-compliant properties across the city are in compliance. We are having just a fabulous response. So many people aren't aware, they didn't know what they had to do. Our compliance resource on Connor Williamson is doing a fantastic job in working, you know, with each homeowner, helping them, you know, understand what has to happen and then allowing to happen.
Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): There's only, I think, three properties today that are in non-compliance knowingly. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Right? So meaning that they are choosing not to do anything about that, and they are going to be brought before the Board of Health. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Because, of course, you know, as I said earlier, it's important. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): In other news, as I talked last time about the Kratom ban, I believe, did I or did I not? So we've now sent out communications to all of our tobacco and nicotine retailers. We've also published in our food newsletter called On the Line, which I'll send you all a copy if you haven't seen it, a briefing to all of our restaurant owners and our food operators.
Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): that, you know, kratom can't be added to things. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And so that process continues. We're working closely with our legal department to make sure that our actions are all following due process so that if we have any bad actors, which to date we haven't, we've been visiting personally all of our nicotine and tobacco retailers, you know, making sure they understand the Schedule One requirements. And there has been no, we've we found one location. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): where a product was just vaguely mentioning Kratom, which again, you can't have it on there, and they immediately removed it. But everybody else that we visited, and we visited, you know, all of our, well, actually 50% of our nicotine and tobacco retailers so far, and they've all had no presence of Kratom on the shelf, which is fantastic. So we're having terrific compliance and and that's what we like to see, that voluntary, you know, removal based on the state's
Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): ban. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): As it relates to, more state sanitary code, we're also very focused on the rental registry renewals. They're important because they help landlords understand their obligations, and they also help, tenants, you know, know what their rights are. This is in response to removing pre-rental, registration and reducing cost. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): But focusing on education. So, we've had, I think, 1,100 total properties now that are in our system, and many of them haven't renewed this year, which is going to be a problem as we head into the new year, November, the campaign for next year. And so we've really been working closely with those properties, and this week, there will be 48 properties brought before the Board of Health.
Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): for non-renewal. Now that's, you could have the risk of receiving a fine up to $500 for that. That is not our goal, to be punitive. Our goal is to get compliance. This week it has been crazy in the health department because we've gone from 300 to whatever it is now, 48. There were 300 people that properties that were going to be brought up before the board, and now there's only 48. So, you know, it's unfortunate that we Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): We have to sort of have the stick moment to make this renewal happen. But Rosalie, you look like you're looking for 48. Speaker 2 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Where do those names come from? Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): People have, through the processes of us reaching out to them, they have identified as either short-term rentals or that they are landlords. Online, you mean? Through the OpenGov process. Are you thinking, are you one of those properties? Come on by the health department.
Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Dear reader, we shall draw a veil. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Thank you. Go ahead. And so we've reached out on many times. It's been about six different communications to landlords. And they're coming in. But now we're down to the wire. So tonight or tomorrow night, they'll be brought before the board. And so I guess there's still time to come in and get compliant. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And we'll make clear to the board any of the properties that are on the property list for non-compliant that has since come into compliance, so that we're only bringing before the board those properties that are still outstanding. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And again, just like with, Kratom, our goal is compliance, not punitive damages. We're also continuing on public health excellence. We're digitizing all our files, as you are likely aware. QC for that effort is heady. It's a lot of work, making sure that the data that was in the file was scanned properly and coded properly. So we have a full court press right now.
Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): on making sure that all of those files are received in good order. It's going to change how the public accesses things, so you don't have to come in anymore, you can go online and just look at your documents. Completely compliant to privacy requirements in that instance as well. We're working closely with IT on that. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And we're also, as part of Public Health Excellence, going through the process of documenting all of our standard operating procedures for all of the work that we do. And, that's, required because if they audit us, we have to be able to show, here's how we do it. But we're also doing it so that no matter who's in the role, we do things the same way. We have a whole lot of things. When I came into the department, and Rosalie, you'll remember, it's like, that's how it's always been done.
Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And so we really had to have the state tell us how it should be done. And now we're aligning with state regulations and making sure that our operating procedures mirror the CMR. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): That's a… that's a lot of work, and it's going to take us about a year to get it done, but we're focused on that right now. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): help. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Any additional staff? Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): help you with that? Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Through Public Health Excellence dollars, a full-time program manager. So Danielle Larrabee, who was our admin, got promoted into the program manager role and she's spearheading that effort. I'm working with all of our inspectors and my assistant director, Gabby White, as subject matter experts to make sure that we're right sizing up. We're not just doing it in theory, we're doing it, here's what we actually do, right?
Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And it makes that more efficient for us to operate then, because people aren't doing creative writing or figuring out how to attend to something. It's sort of gonna be like, here's what you do, like, here's how we operate. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): So I think it's being well received by the team as well. It's not sludge. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): to use a Malcolm Gladwell term, it's, you know, enablement. And then on the opioid abatement side, we have state reporting due, this, this month, at the end of this month, for the year, for all that the city has done. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And so I'll be sure to let you guys have that report when we're done. And then also the year two MOUs for opioid abatement work is all in play with legal. Those services continue, housing, transportation, community programming, and recovery coach services. Those are the four key services that we're providing with opioid abatement dollars, and they're continuing.
Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And then in other news, the public health nurse has vaccinated over 250 residents. I think they were here last week, was it? Yeah, last week. And, we've gone to all of the elder housing, public housing, Rose Baker, Pathways, GMGI, Central Grammar, Day by Day. We do home visits if requested. Next up is the Gloucester Public Schools Fishermen's Partnership. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Action CADA is coming up, I think, right? And City Hall Clinic for, you know, for, I believe all of you all are part of that on the 15th from one to four. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Or the record. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): You know, certainly COVID, flu, influenza A and B, and then you can have others as well, so you can say, I need this, or I need that, so we'll have RSV available, there's a few others that we have that are, when asked, people can help. We do shingles.
Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): There's a variety of them that we have access to. So, reminder to your constituents that if they have, vaccination needs, certainly the pharmacies can help them, if, you know, with anything, because they're all set up now, right? That's… since COVID, that's become a thing, where you can go to any pharmacy and get, you know, shot in arm. But if you don't like that, which many seniors don't, or, they can Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): You know, reach out to our public health nurse, make an appointment. We manage the insurance processes as well and we have free vaccinations for those who are underinsured or not insured. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yep.
Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And there's a lot of other things. But those are the big moving parts of what's happening in health. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I'm so sorry. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah, a lot of good stuff coming. Thank you. you. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Lisa. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Who never has anything to report. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Wait, someone else. Oh, God. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): ordered. Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Bus shelters a while back, and we've we're getting to the end of working with the city to actually have an agreement so that CADA can go and replace our existing bus shelters with our new bus shelters.
Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): So I don't know if that's going to happen between now and November 15th, or if we're just going to kick it down to next spring and start March 15th and install them. Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): that way, because we don't have a lot of time to put them in, now. But they're gonna be nice. It's essentially gonna be the same footprint. Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): But it's going to be new, they're going to be ADA accessible, because right now, if you look at our shelters, they are not, because the bench runs the entire length of the shelter, so if you're in a wheelchair, and you want to back in, you cannot back in and get out of the rain. Your front half is going to be
Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): expose the elements. So these have half the bench so that someone in a wheelchair can actually get into the shelter, which will be an improvement. And then the other thing, the… Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): the panels on the back, and we didn't want to do anything… like, if you go and you look at, like, Lawrence, Merrimack Valley, they did new shelters, and their shelters you see from a mile away. It's very bright. Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): We did not want to do anything like that, because it doesn't fit with KBAN Gloucester, but on the back panels. Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): instead of just plain glass, we actually have, like, local scenes etched into the glass. So we have, like, Good Harbor Footbridge, we have the Man at the Wheel, we have… I think we have Stage Fort Park, so those… they're all unique, so those will be, like, the little upgrade that we're doing.
Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Etched into the glass. It's not a decal. It's etched. Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I did not want to do a decal, because the decal is going to fade and split. So hopefully this fall, if not, then March of next year, we can actually, install those, get the old ones out, because the old ones are… I looked at, like, our capital equipment list. Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): They're either, they're at least 30 years old. I think one of them is like 41 years old. So they last a good long time. So the investment is worth it. But we do need to actually switch them out. And then the other. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And will there be signage opportunities in the new shelters?
Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): There will be signage for CADA. OK, only CADA? Yeah. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Only cannot… Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Not like not advertising and the and the new ones. Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): In the… Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): the minutes. You guys were talking about signage out front and generous gardeners, like, I'm assuming near the… where the Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Old bench was. Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Kate, I don't want to put a bus stop sign, but… Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): If we could work with you guys and put some sort of sign there that they have the tri…
Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): tripod signs that have the three sides on them, so that I can put something that identifies it as a bus stop location, and then, like, on one of the sides, or on the back of the sign, like, if you wanted to put Council on Aging information, or something like that, because right now, that's our main bus stop, and I have, like, a little sign on a telephone pole being held on by one screw. Yeah. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): That makes sense, Felicia. Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah, before they start, like, before we get Generous Gardeners and they're to start working or anything like that, because we can fund. Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I will buy the sign. Okay. If you want to work with DPW to get it installed, that would be easier for me. Okay. Or, if you don't want to do that, then CADA can install the sign too, but that's going to be another process with the city to get permission to install something on city property.
Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Whereas I just gift you the signage. Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Maybe Dpw can put it down. Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Okay, wait a minute. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Umm, will there be will that triangle thing that the display the signage, will it have any information about scheduling or is that? Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Trying to get too much on that. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): On that one vehicle, that one surface. Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): What I was thinking is like for Cato's information, like here's a bus map, here's a QR code, here's our phone number. Right. And then, you know, maybe put.
Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): the bus schedules, like, either down below, like, big enough that somebody can actually read it, but not… Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): too crowded that it looks chaotic in that folder. Right, but yeah… But, like, a 2x… like, 2x3, or, like, you know, 18x24, like, a good size Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): good-sized panels on the side of those things, so that we can put information in there. Right, yeah. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): A fair amount of people. I mean, it's not a ton, but it's a fair amount of people that just pop in and ask questions about the schedule. Yeah. You know, getting a bus. And I think about sometimes what what are those folks do on the weekends and when we're not open and that'll be great. They'll have signage.
Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah. And I think that would look, I mean, because we can always do something digital, but I'm like, I think just start something plain hard copy. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah, that sounds great. Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And I think that's it. I don't think I have anything else. Speaker 2 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I read somewhere that the buses are going to be free for 2027 as well. Yes, they're going to. Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): to be free up until the end of 27. Nice. Speaker 2 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): That's wonderful. The thing is really, really appreciated that. Speaker 2 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): It's nice. Yeah, it is wonderful. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Thank you. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Oil business. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Remote programming in Vernonia Lanesville. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Nothing… no, nothing, Fred, and I wonder, I feel like that just kind of hangs out on the agenda, and I don't know if there's a way to, right, to table it, or until… I mean, after I had that meeting with… over with them at Lanesville, I feel like Magnolia just seems… Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Like, they just don't want to partner with us. I feel like that's just been hard, and I went over and did go to a meeting in Lanesville, and they… Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): it was just kind of… nothing really took shape, so I don't know if we could change that on the agenda, or table it, or…
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I still… it's always still in the back of my… the back of my mind, looking for, like, the right fit for that. What would be the right… Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): thing to kind of propose, because it will take staff, like, over there. Like, anything that we run where we actually utilize the Lanesville Community Center. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): we'd need to staff, you know what I mean? And… Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): So it's still, so I don't know, how does the board feel about leaving that on the agenda? Speaker 2 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Spoken with a couple of people over in Magnolia. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah. And they do have a.
Speaker 2 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): lot of… Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): programming over there. They have their little library. They have exercise classes. They do. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): have other programs. Yeah. What they were when I spoke with one of the ladies on the board. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): She was… Kind of asking if it was something that we… they could get money for. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Okay, so they're looking to raise funds for their own programs. And I said, that's not. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Interesting concept of partnering, right? That's not how it's going to work. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): We're offering free programs if we can use your space. Right.
Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): For free. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Correct, correct. So, I think that was… You did. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): So you did clarify that with them? Yes. Maybe it should, for now, stay on that, because of… just because of this. So when I was looking at the agenda and thinking about, geez, should that still be on the agenda? I wondered, I think maybe I've been trying to Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I'm at it thinking too big. I've got to wonder, and I need to talk to Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Tiffany about this and get back to the respective community centers. I wonder if just… if there's any value, or what value there is. I know there'd be some value, but what value there might be
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): To having just regular outreach. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): hours, where somebody's there. Like, Tiffany goes out and she goes to the different senior housing for the folks that might need her, you know, social work services, but can't or don't want to come here, or whatever. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Just, you know what I mean? Could we get, could we get just her to maybe have Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): some hours there, where people that live in those remote, faraway lands of Magnolia and Lanesville could meet with our social worker for the, you know, so it wouldn't be the kind of recreational kind of, you know, social stimulation stuff that we offer, but we could maybe start with just some office hours there.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Once a month. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): See, you know, so I again, I haven't talked to Tiffany about this idea. I need to run it by her, see if her schedule can kind of spare it, what she thinks about it. And then I need, of course, to approach them about it too. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Let's write that around the table. Any thoughts on that? I think that's a good approach. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): your foot in and it's not overlapping anything that they already do or feel they do. Speaker 9 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Right. Speaker 2 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): You never know who needs help though. So it's another way to offer help. And I think they do.
Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Have a women's. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Committee, Women's Club, that… Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): That's a lot of organizing and events, and that might be a group to tap into. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): within the magnolia. Speaker 2 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Library. Kylie Davis on the board there. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): You know what? I don't know. I don't know. Barry? Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I like it. Yeah, I think it would be. It's outrageous. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah, it's getting the soft outreach. It's soft outreach. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): the.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I don't know if it qualifies as remote programming, but… Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yes. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah, why don't I approach that? And if we could just, if the board agrees, we'll leave it on there for now. So, and don't forget. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Don't forget Magtoberfest is happening on Sunday. That's the Sunday 11 to 5. Always a fun afternoon. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Is that something that we can do? Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): 10 year olds too? Oh yeah. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): painting and all kinds of activities for the kids. They have a car show out in the parking lot. Yeah, they have a beer garden, music, food trucks. Yeah, lots to do.
Speaker 2 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): So the health department should have inspected that, right? Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I'm sure Sophie is on it. I'm sure. Yeah. OG. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Development of social media. Suzanne. Speaker 2 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Okay. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): October events was in Good Morning Gloucester yesterday. Nice. The newspaper today. The newspaper sometimes, you know, cuts or does. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): things with it. I think my contact files it. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And I'm gonna find out how the process goes, and then I think someone else maybe makes it fit in the space in the paper.
Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): But, you know, as I said before, social media, I think we need to get going more. We've talked about this at other meetings, and we mentioned Instagram, setting up an Instagram. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah, so I looked into setting up an Instagram, Suzanne, and Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I couldn't do it. I got to some step where… Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I had to… I had to authenticate something with an email. The email didn't come through. Oh, yeah. I reached out to IDT and said, geez, I'm going to need this email to come through faster so that I authenticate this is what I'm doing, and IT said, no, no, no, the mayor's office wants all of that to go through them now. Oh, okay.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I had a brief interaction with Sophia about it. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And then just kind of dropped it, because I wasn't sure that's kind of… Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): what we were aiming for anyway, so I will get back to Sophia and talk to her more about what our options are. Can we… can we… is it okay with the… with the Mayor's Communications team for us to kind of have our own separate Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): you know, unique Rose Baker, Instagram account. Maybe for now, just… Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Maybe more photos or getting, getting more, more Facebook. Yeah. Someone to volunteer to take photos and just put 'em on Facebook. Yeah. Because that's already set up and the, yeah.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): the photos get such great engagement. Another thing, too, that made me drop the Instagram thing was I just very quickly, when I was trying to decide how much kind of time to put into it, looked into some stats about, like, our demographic on Instagram, and it's not huge. Yeah, they're on Facebook more, so I think that what I can focus on is a more constant drumbeat on Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): on Facebook, Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And maybe appeal to the community about a volunteer to help you with taking photos or. Yeah, it. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Maybe. I mean, I would volunteer, but I… I manage, like, one Facebook page, and I don't really know what I'm doing half the time anyway. Yeah. The Fisherman's Memorial Service Committee. Yeah. You know, so I'm not great at it. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I… it can be done. It can be handed off. It's not like I'm the only one that can do these things. I just… we have to be care… I like to be careful about voice. Like, I have a very, very, I think, a very distinct, certain kind of voice to the things that I post. And. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): But that being said, I could still, I've been trying to be mindful of getting more of, you know, going through the newsletter and saying, okay, that's a post and using their schedule feature so I could just chuck it off at once and have the things post, you know, automatically set the date and time. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): So, I'll go through and do some more of that for what we've got going on in October.
Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): That's also coming. Tiffany might give you a hand. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I she's got I I am not no I no no no I don't think Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Especially not right now, and that's in my director's report, too, is that we're open enrollment on the 15th. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): the. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yes. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): separate. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Anything else on Earth Way? OK. Anything more, Suzanne? No, that's good. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): The program, remote programming, other, should that continue on the agenda?
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yes, for now, Fred, I think, because I'm still trying to get… Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): at least one of our, exercise classes to be a hybrid class. And I had talked to, Marilyn, the great instructor on that, about that, and Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): She was worried about, kind of, being able to Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): do right by the people in the room, and having herself, kind of, her attention stretched too thin. Since we had that conversation, we added the Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): class over at Soy Free Library. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): which took some of the pressure off of the her Wednesday afternoon class. I mean, her Wednesday afternoon class was so popular that we were we had to do a sign up for it. Usually our exercise classes are just you don't even need to register.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): But her class was so popular, and that was the one I was wanting her to do as a hybrid, and meanwhile, people are just trying to get stuffed in here. So now that we added the Friday morning over at the library that's accommodating about 25 people, so that falls under remote programming too, is that that continues to go really well. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): That has taken a little bit of the pressure off for people to try to get into the Wednesday afternoon class. So I need to get back to Marilyn, but she's had some kind of Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): family stuff going on, and I need to get back to her as soon as she's back in town. I don't know, I think she's not even in the area right now.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And see how she feels about the decreased pressure on the Wednesday afternoon class, and could that enable her to teach it as a hybrid class? She does teach some classes that are 100% remote, that are via Zoom, so she's familiar with it, but she hasn't tried Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): doing both yet. Yeah. So, I will get back to her, and I will continue that conversation now that we… now, like I said, now that that pressure has been taken off of Wednesday. Because one of the things I've learned, too, is that in this process of kind of having heard Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): She's needed to be absent for a few classes, and she's come up with some very good members, regulars in her class, who are
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): who are serving or substituting for her when she can't make it. So if we can recruit those substitutes to also help all the time, to help her manage the regular class once we try going hybrid to see if it can work, then that might be a way to kind of get there. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): So, that's my thoughts. Speaker 9 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Elise, what if she tried it with a small group that's at the library first to see how she does it to get the kinks worked out? Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): big group now, Susan. So library is about 25 people. That's a lot in a yoga class. So she does here right now. Small one. Yeah. Wednesday afternoon she can fit about 14 people in here. Okay. And we had about 25 that wanted to be in here. So.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): So that's why we added the one over at the library, but because that room is just so accommodating and big and everything, she's got about 25 people over there. Well, I don't think I'd want to stretch her to try to keep eyes on 25 people and see how their form is, and… Yeah, I'm just thinking that might be the smaller one. Yeah, the Wednesday afternoon. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Or there'd be a third session with no more than seven. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Hybrid. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Maybe. Would need to find a time and a place for that. And I'm looking right now because we are offering three Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): at yoga. I'm focusing more on
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): finding a diff… offering another modality, because I've had some members talk to me about offering another modality that has sprung up from the Coffee with Elise, sessions that are productive. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): So, I still think that I just need to have the conversation with her now about how's… how's Wednesday… and look myself, look at Wednesday attendance. Did that… that… those Big Friday numbers take the pressure off on Wednesday enough for her to at least give that a shot? I can't have that conversation until she's kind of back, because she's got some stuff going on. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Congregate Meals Program? I still, that's the same. I need to get reach back out to Julie and kind of get back on track with that.
Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): the. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): the changes to that. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): The Ambassador Bus service is going well. Holly continues to report that some people are getting on that bus looking for her. They're getting on the bus knowing that she is going to be there to help them. And she's getting some kind of regulars with that now. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): There was a thought, if I remember about it. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Volunteer accompanying her to help with the manual side of lifting bags. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): She's fine, and to tell you the truth, I think it's more of a…
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): It's more of a security blanket thing, because the drivers are so willing. I mean, the drivers, when I've subbed in for Holly and done that, and I have a few times, those drivers are… Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Command, they're right there. They can get out of that driver's seat and go out to help in an instant, and they want to help, and they do help. So, I think that that's less of an… that's less of an issue, you know what I mean? I think it's more just kind of a security blanket of knowing that you… that there's someone there Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): to sit with you and talk to you and definitely help you without having to bother the driver. You know, people might think they're a bother. But it continues to get good reports as it's going along.
Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Seniors on the GO bus? Ditto. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I went to the Topsfield Fair on Monday, and it was senior day of Topsfield Fair, so $10 admission. So that was a popular trip. And trying to think of some more places to go. I had some requests. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): to do, Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): more like museums. People keep wondering, can't we go to Boston? And I know CADA has some limits on that, right? I mean, the answer is no, I don't think we can go to Boston. But I did say maybe we could do, like, a Peabody Essex Museum in Salem. That would be good. Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): could do that. Boston is a long way away if that van breaks down. Right.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): So maybe I can find some more things like that and like museums or like museums that are kind of between us and Boston, or maybe even a little bit north of us instead of south. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And we'll look into PBD Essex Museum, but certainly not during the month of October. Yeah, we'll avoid that in the month of October in Salem, but we'll try for that. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): games, In, like, the Lawrence Haverhill area? Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Maybe. That's awfully far away, too. I mean, Lawrence, if the bus broke down in Lawrence, that's a long ways away. But there are. I mean, there's some great museums there. The trick would be to find some stuff that's within a bit of a closer diameter.
Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Because of your time. Speaker 10 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): because. Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): The what? The time. You have to remember how much time you actually have to take to get there. Speaker 10 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Newberry. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): It has a couple of museums. Plus it has a great, downtown for shopping. Sure does. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah. Restaurants. Yeah, how would you feel about Newburyport? Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I'm not opposed to it. You're not what? Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Not opposed to it. Not opposed to it. So we could talk about that some more. Let's talk about what might be.
Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I have, I know someone at one of the museums in case you need a new report. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Oh, nice! Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): What a surprise. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Okay. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Let's see, yes. Susan, any thoughts on this? Very successful idea. Speaker 9 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah, I… Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Let me introduce the ongoing program of techniques to detect fraud. Speaker 9 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Okay, so I've… Did a bunch of research, trying to see… Speaker 9 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): how or where or if there were any of these programs. And after spending some time on it, I decided if I found something, they're so scarce, they're gonna be expensive, okay?
Speaker 9 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And it's not gonna… It's not gonna probably be cost-effective, because not everybody's got a computer, and it's gonna… Speaker 9 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): you know, do it. So I was thinking that maybe we could do sort of a in-house, and I haven't talked to Elise about this, but I should have before I mentioned it, but I was thinking we could do, like, a monthly spam quiz, where we have a scenario, and Speaker 9 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): We have, you know, like, you know, you find this bargain on the you need a new blender, and you look around, and the best one is made by sweet appliances. Speaker 9 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And that model that's recommended is $400, and, well, that's a lot, and so you check all the sites and whatnot. And you think about it, do you really need a $400 blender? And then the next day, you go back to look at it once more, and you go out to the site, and lo and behold, they're having a one-day special.
Speaker 9 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): So what do you do? Do you quickly grab it up because it's really good? Do you think about it that it's too good to be true and you've got to go out and Speaker 9 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Or do you… Call somebody and find out if it's spam. Speaker 9 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And then the people would have a choice of A, B, or C, and then the group raises their hand for the proper answer, which I think would get them talking among themselves, and it could be sort of like a monthly thing that gets thrown in with some other activity that gets a fairly good crowd. Speaker 9 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And it wouldn't be that hard to come up with a scenario. Do you know that the other.
Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): programs that you were going to look at are in fact expensive? Speaker 9 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): No, it's just my gut feeling, isn't it? Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Facebook. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): out. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah, because I really. Speaker 9 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I haven't found any, that's why I think if I did… Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): What kind of service it might be endowed and therefore purposefully low cost? Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): by someone who's been badly burned, or some or someone who burnt somebody, and part of their penalty is to come up with a system.
Speaker 9 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I need somebody. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I don't know, that's why I'm asking. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I can reach out to a couple of… Speaker 9 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Anybody have any thoughts? Young kids I used to work with. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): have any reach out to the IT department because they were the ones. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): So we're running it. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): city. Right. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): So I, Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I did not, but I went straight to Mimecast, so I hopped on to Mimecast's website to just see, just as somebody who's looking for the products that they offer, is that a product that they offer? And it's not. So, they don't do anything like that. So that…
Speaker 9 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And I thought I'd be able to contact sales, because usually sales in that kind of a business knows all their rivals, but I had no luck getting through sales. And when we first started talking about this. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I just kind of went out there and did some general kind of, you know, Google searches. And I did find a couple programs, but none of them seemed to be high quality. None of them seemed to be like widely utilized. I think I only found like two that even approached what we were talking about or hoping for. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): In the meantime, and I… I don't know… Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): you know, maybe we can keep talking about it. But in the meantime, I just got a communication a couple… two days ago from Mass Council on Aging, MCOA, who said that they have… they formed a new partnership with AARP, with the AARP's
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): OATS program that we had talked about before, Barry, I think you had brought some information about OATS. So, the MCOA is now partnering with OATS, and they were looking for all the COA directors Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): to take a survey, which I did, and talk about our needs and programs that we might be interested in, and they're looking for a couple Councils on Aging to serve as pilots Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): for… for different programs that… that will be through that AARP OATS program, and they said, you know, would you be interested… would you be willing? And I said, you know, maybe, of course. That was one of the choices, was maybe. Because, yeah, maybe. Tell me some details. So,
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): that might be… there might be something there, because I know that when they… in the communication that they sent out, talking about the types of things that we would be able to kind of partner with AARP on, that was one of them. There was a couple different. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): a couple different categories of… there was, like, you know, cybersecurity, yeah, there was cybersecurity. So, Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): So I don't know. I don't know how quickly I'm gonna that that will move. I can be more proactive instead of just kind of saying, well, I'll wait and see if they get in touch with me about being a pilot. I could reach out to some of my MCOA contacts and say, hey, I think we really are. This is what we're trying to do. I can talk to them about it, and I will. And good news there, too, with MCOA is just that
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I'll be at their conference on the 21st. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): So, I'll be, you know, I'll be there at a big gathering of all, Council on Aging staff, and a lot of the MCOA staff is there as well. So if I don't manage to, to kind of make it happen by email or phone before then. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I know that at the very least I'll be there in that environment. So I'll talk to people when I'm there about that new AARP partnership. Maybe that can be it. For clarity. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): OATS is an acronym. Yes. Older Americans. Older adults. Adults. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): technology.
Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Go to the phone. Oh, I can't. My phone's dead. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): you. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): it's. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): One of the programs on the AARP Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Or they're affiliated with AARP. We can find them online. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Thanks, Sarah. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): So. Speaker 9 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): That's where I started looking for these because I thought that was a perfect thing for Arp to have. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Boulder. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah, older adults technology services. Good. Thank you.
Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah, that's… It's disturbing that you got nowhere, and that you couldn't get through to a human. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I just sent you two other ideas. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): You did? Oh. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Just right now. Oh, just right now. Okay, great. I have that moment of, wow, I didn't see that one. Okay. So, and Dominique sent me a couple ideas. So let's just leave, yeah, let's leave that on there and we'll keep moving forward. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Then segue into director's report. Okay, director's report. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Okay. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Oh, I forgot to mention, sorry, I gotta circle back.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Getting back to rebranding, is that part of the grant application to get the rebranding grant, said that we were going to refresh our mission statement. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): That would just freshen that up. Now, to me, a refresh just means Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): update the wording a little bit. I've been in the room before, when I was on the board of a large organization, and we had an all-day board and staff retreat, and Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): the time that was spent trying to refresh a mission statement, and at the end of the whole exercise, I felt like the mission statement became more vague, and… Of course! It was just trying to change it, and…
Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Which things are decided in the shower? Don't you know that? Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): The language can be changed. I think it can be refreshed without needing to be made, you know. So I have like a draft. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): of what I think. I can read it now, I can send it to everybody, we can put it on, send it around, and then maybe we can take a vote on the refreshed mission statement at the next meeting. Sure, okay. That makes sense. Okay, so that's what I'll do, yeah. Some of my other priorities, which also come from my updates for the managers meeting, so… So, Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): priorities are to kind of just manage the Medicare open enrollment process, which starts October 15th. There's going to be some spillover to me, as the social work depth to the social work bench here, because Tiffany has just been out… she's been out straight scheduling. She scheduled 403 SHRN appointments. They've been booked.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): The waitlist have all been closed now. We're still getting calls, tons of calls, and all we can do is really send people to the, AgeSpan has the regional SHINE office. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): So, we're sending people to the number they gave us. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): our understanding that the only thing they're able to offer at this point is that they're mailing people the Plan Finder tool, people fill it out and then mail it back to them, and then people remotely are just plugging in the information on the Plan Finder tool, they get back to you and say, here's the plan that's best for you. One of the people doing that behind the scenes work with the Plan Finder tools.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Julie Smith, yes, which doesn't surprise me. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): experience. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): But Julie, she had three best plans, and then I chose from that. So that missing the one-on-one is going to be a problem. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah, and I'm probably, because I have never been in a SHINE session or used the Plan Finder tool, I'm probably cutting corners on the real, the real. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): nuance there, you know what I mean? Like that. Like, it probably is the 3 you need to pick. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I think it's… Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yes. At the Addison Gilbert Community Benefits Meeting, they have poster sessions. And Pathways, I think, has SHINE resources. They do. Senior Care has SHINE resources. Yes.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): We've been sending some people to senior care. I need to get an update from them about whether or not they've reached their capacity. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Sorry? Pathway starts. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I'm surprised what happens where it's Medicare. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Senior Care, Addison Gilbert, and then also the Gloucester Clinic as well, which I always forget the name of it for some horrible reason. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): They definitely have shine. Okay, well, we'll have to call around and see what people's capacity is, because, I mean, they're just getting, the appointments get snapped up crazy fast. They still have litigants.
Speaker 2 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): That's right. Yes. Yes. Is there one other lady too? Roja Millie. Yes. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Two other ladies. We have Mirta Ulivi, who does, who for folks that need that. We have Rose Millie, we have Lydia, we have Safadia, we have Tiffany from the staff. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): doing it, and it's just… the need is just incredible. It's so complex, don't even get me going on our… on the complexity of our system. The other big thing is that we're preparing for our Halloween party. Thursday, October 29th, at 11.30, as our parties always are. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): We will have our Halloween party. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): We're gonna have a DJ, we're going with a DJ, but we're trying a new… a DJ, DJ Scully, who, we've used once a long time ago when Scotty Mack was unavailable, and we really like DJ Scully, so we're gonna circle back and give him a little bit of… give him a gig, and
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): The other thing that I'm trying to prioritize is increasing awareness. I'll get a Facebook post out about this. We're now offering a mindfulness meditation class. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And that was something that's been, like, on my, boy, I really want to do that list for a long time. I've been approached by a couple people who wanted to start that. They all do want to be paid. Nobody I've been able to find wants to do it as a volunteer. And I've been looking at people's credentials and just not… Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): kind of pleased enough with their credentials. I'm partial to social work credentials. I did find somebody who's an LICSW who's been teaching mindfulness meditation for a long time. So we're offering that on Thursday mornings now, and I think that's going to be a slow roll. I think people are going to start small.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And I think people are going to talk. I hope people are going to talk. And I think that's going to be a built in because the benefits of mindfulness meditation are vast. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Let's see, I talked about painting staff offices. Kind of in the works, going out a little more is. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): that we're hoping to get a pizza and a movie night going in November. We're still kind of exploring doing another intergenerational drag bingo night. That's fun. Yeah, and and those Coffee with Elise's have yielded a few people asking me for an additional Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): exercise modality, something that's a little, like, like Zumba. People are still kind of missing. We did Zumba a long time ago. So I've, do have a volunteer that came, stepped, came forward, Susan Wisser, said.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I had told Susan that I was thinking of getting certified as a Zumba instructor, and me volunteering. That means that I'm moving at least once a week because the instructors do it. So this is selfish, because I need to guarantee that I will move as much as I need to move. Speaker 2 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): time to do that. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Well, I need to find that's the thing, though, Rosie, is I need to find the time for my own exercise. And this would be a way that I could do that. And so, Susan Wisser said, well, at least if you want to do it, let's do the buddy system. Let's both get certified. And she said we could trade off.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): On teaching it. So we're looking into that. What I would want to do with that is utilize some of that big gift that we got. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): to just pay the DPW in a one big chunk for whatever we need to pay for custodial coverage, and offer that class at 4, like, 4 o'clock in the afternoon. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Now, that gets into dipping a toe into Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): what we talked about last meeting was having us all have a more robust discussion, I can't remember if it's elsewhere on the agenda, about the notion, about the idea of us staff has brought to my attention, that they would feel some benefit to being on the same schedule as the rest of the city.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Where we would work late on Thursdays and we would work a half a day on Friday. And I just, I don't know if that's workable. So if it didn't get onto the agenda this time, that's on me for not catching that, Fred. No, that's a new subject. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): That's one of the ones I missed. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah, so let's talk about it. We talked about putting it on the agenda, but it didn't get on the agenda. So, but even if it's shy of that, offering a class at four o'clock on a Thursday might be a way for us to take the temperature of the community. Do they really want to come here at four o'clock on a Thursday?
Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): In my conversations with the mayor, we talked briefly on that. I got no sense of opposition for him about changing the later hours. Yeah. For people who, because people, because they're of retirement age, doesn't mean they're retired. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Right. They're working. I know people are working. And of course, there's a certain segment of the population that we serve that is just. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Very change resistant. And I understand that, I understand, but we could still, we've thought about it. We could still, there would have to be different days of the week, but we could still offer bingo twice, two days a week.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): We could still offer cribbage one day a week, we could still… Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): offer what we offer, we just need to kind of change it around a little bit. So. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): If we could make sure that gets on the agenda for next month, if everyone could give it a little pre-thought to what you perceive the Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): The pros and cons. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): That would be. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): for that item. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Changing hours, yeah, and how late? Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Do they open on Thursday nights? 6:30.
Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): 6:30? Is your staff on that schedule too, Dominique? Speaker 2 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): 12:30 on Friday. Yeah, 12:30 on Friday. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah, we'd need to change. What did we say? We'd need to change bingo. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): to Tuesday and Thursday, Ribbit. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): would be… Wednesday. We could still have the old salts on most of the Mondays in the month. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And, Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Thursday, if we're gonna do bingo on Tuesday and Thursday, that just means that they'd need to, when bingo wraps up and gets out of here, they'd need to do a pretty quick changeover of that room to get it ready for if we were going to do a Zumba class. So I'll talk to custodial staff about that. Friday afternoon could be exercise classes.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Friday afternoon. Well, if we're going to change the hours, then we wouldn't be working Friday afternoon. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): But the instructors would be and they'd be a custodian. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Maybe. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Maybe. But I'm more interested in having an afternoon like four o'clock, like a later day. Yes, but I'm also thinking that you'd have one to three, one to four. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Now for exercise classes that don't require staff. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): The leader and the custodial staff. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Maybe after, after I get my 4:00 class, I would prioritize the 4:00 class because it's just for people who, it's for a whole other population that just can't get here until later on in the day. And then if we had funding to be able to pay an additional instructor or find another volunteer, maybe we could do that. For city staff.
Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): who have their Friday afternoons off could come here for exercise. Oh, true. True for exercise. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): That's a good idea. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): That wouldn't affect the mobile market. Yeah, Zoom is fun. Yeah, either. That's on Friday, Friday mornings. Yeah, I'm sorry, the mobile market that would. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): It wouldn't impact it. No, it would still be able to do that. So let's have a more robust discussion. If you if I could ask you all to do homework, just mental homework of pros and cons. Okay. We'll talk about that. But in the meantime, I really want to try to get going on on the, using some of that gift money to pay for the custodial coverage and just, get a 4:00 class.
Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): So, okay, Jim Rosalie, I know you have to leave. Any questions or anything on the remainder of the agenda? Oh, no. To you. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): No, I'm good. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): the. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): For sure. I have a couple things. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): One was to, like, hire staff and that type of thing. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Where do we sit on the Friends of the Council on Aging? Have we heard? Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Any movement of… Money? Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): No. Okay. To the best of my knowledge, we have not had… that's not anywhere still. We're just sitting around waiting… Speaker 2 : Waiting for that money, and still continues to be with the AG's office.
Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): So, it's not that… I'm not asking. Yeah, okay. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): No, it was just… the other reason I bring it up is Essex is doing… their Council on Aging is doing a fun… Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Our friends at the Council on Aging is doing a fun. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): thing to raise money about the scarecrows. Yes. Oh, yeah, I don't know about this. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Patty Gates used to own the olive oil companies involved with the Essex County… Essex. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Council on Aging. And what they've done now for a couple years, they get, Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Wood from the building center, you know, to make a scarecrow.
Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): They get burlap, and people can make their own… paint their own faces, or I think their art department or whatever, you can paint it there. And then all over Essex are all these different scarecrows where people dress up. And they make the money because they sell the kit. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): They sell the burlap and the wood, and that's how they make their money. And they're fabulous. Yeah. And I was thinking, that's a great fundraiser idea. I wish we had a Friends of the Council on Aging. Yeah. Yeah, I wish we had a Friends of the Council on Aging. The other thing I just wanted to mention was. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): To encourage people to come to the Halloween party. Do you have a photo from last year? Any photos? Yes.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Three photos from the party. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And on Facebook in anticipation of that. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah, I'll do that, Suzanne. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): That's all I had. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Okay, any new business? Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): All right, just one issue, Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): It was a KPM news brief. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): It's a grief support walking group. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Anybody else notice this in the newspaper? Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I saw that somewhere. Yeah, it was on Sunday from.
Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): September 20th to November the 8th, those experienced the loss of a loved one. And basically it was a walking group. And okay, that's great. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Responsor. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): There was nothing there, but I chased through. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): show a website that this. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Group is involved with? Yeah. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And what I found was there. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Angle, if you will, what that would really look like. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): working towards was a group of people that were friends that would go do a 5K.
Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): That's and I went, well, that's not nefarious. That sounds like an interesting way to get people to get in. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): to exercise. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Just didn't know whether anybody. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I'll pass it around. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): the. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): That's. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah, I have seen that, and I think that that is… Is it by Thrive? Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): What's the question? Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I was saying, is it by Thrive Gloucester, T-H-R-I-V-E?
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Turn your local trained emotion facilitator on. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Emotion was the group that I chased them through to find out about them. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Oh. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I'm glad. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I see that the chamber and they're trying to encourage, you know, healthy lifestyle for longevity. So being outside, being part of community, etc, all the wellness businesses are working together around this brand called Thrive. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Where they're trying to help everybody understand that there's things you can do to have a longer, healthier life. Like a blue zone. Student chamber, you said? Student chamber, it's called the Wellness Committee. Actually intersects with the Zoom.
Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): So it's a… it's a… Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Committee of the… Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Of all of the businesses. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): support wellness, they are getting together like the Y, creating it themselves. Yeah, and they've created this brand called Thrive, Thrive Gloucester, and it's based on the Blue Zone. And you're familiar with the Blue Zones around the world. It's places where people are living wonderful, long lives, and they've dived into it, and it's because of how they eat, because they're outside, because they're involved in the community, because they have connection, all the things that
Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): You would understand. And so the community works have gotten together and they're you're going to start to see thrive promotions and things like that out there. Have you been attending those? Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I can't. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): They conflict with this, since it's more important. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): But yeah, interesting. Can I? Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Prime meetings on Zoom. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): They are count. It's a health and Wellness Committee out of the Chamber of Commerce. That is. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): So we can look at it later. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I don't know the answer. If they're absent or not. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): If I could add one more thing to just kind of finish up my director's report. If you read this month's newsletter, you would see that the Art News. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): was big news. The art news was Junie saying that October is her last month. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): After more than 30 years. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): So funny. I didn't see that she was leaving. I just saw her saying thank you. Yeah. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): She wanted to keep it very, like, low-key, but it does say it in her art news, it says, says this is, you know, I love the month of October, and…
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): It says that'll be my last month. So she says it, but but she wants that. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Almost missed this. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Since then, I've had an update. Soy Free Library had reached out to Junie and said that they would like art from our art program to be their featured art in the Matz Gallery in the month of January of 2027. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): So Junie asked if, you know, if, if it would be okay if she changed her departure date and, leaves at the beginning of February, and I said, of course. So that, so we'll have her a little bit longer, Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): But Judy will be wrapping up a very.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): distinguished service, you know, spam service. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Please do that. Sounds like such an important part of the school. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): We still, yeah, yeah, I have that in my budget. Well, as soon as, as soon as the last I left it with Holly is that when it gets close to that date, we'll deal with some of the paperwork and the request to post and all that. So yes, and I've already had one expression, somebody that knows Junie and learned of it through her, who I know of, who seems, you know, so our community, I think, is kind of already hearing about it. And someone reached out to me and said, hey, is that posted yet?
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): You know when it will be I updated her and that so I yeah so I think we're I think we're going to be in good shape it'll be Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): difficult for a lot of people. Avoid… Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah, it'll be difficult for a lot of people, but the things that she has… the things that she has accomplished and the gifts that she's given this community are… Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): numerous and… and deep and long-lasting and all that stuff, so she… she wants… she doesn't really want anything. I need to continue to sit and talk to her and just chip away at that. I don't want anything, because I… if I just kind of chip away, maybe you can get somewhere. I think
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): We have to have something. It doesn't have to be big, but I think at the very least, you know, there needs to be a sheet cake. Yeah. Speaker 9 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): At the very least. There's so many people she's, Speaker 9 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Achta. Yes. Yeah. And I think there are a lot that, that probably don't come here anymore, but would really like to say goodbye to her that Yes. If we don't do anything Right. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Right, right, right. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): to somehow appear that we don't care. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Right. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I have more time to talk to her about that, but.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I haven't talked to her. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And that. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): So that's the bow on my director's report. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): That's I can't. Why, let's see. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Building and grounds. The sound and alarm system. I'm wondering if I could delegate that to someone to come up with a proposal and a budget. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): That Elise can then, work with, or are you far enough along on this to… No. Yeah, so is there anyone who would love to have that as a project? Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Seeing no one, I may delegate.
Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): That's. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Sorry, get up from under the table. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I think before anybody sets up. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): pity for this. Again, it's still… Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Lisa's got to talk to the police chief. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah. No, Chief. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I know. Well, I'm asking someone to do that on her behalf, so that, they can bring back… if she needs to meet with the police chief, great. At the moment, not me, it's just call, and… Yeah, but I'm… because at the moment, I think there are no alarms… We don't have a police chief at the moment. No, we don't. We have a police chief. He's acting, yeah. He's an acting.
Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Chief? Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): You might want to. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Wait until the new chief. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): comes in, which that could be the person next year. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Could be in Maryland next year by the time they go through. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): this assessment. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Center and go through all them. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Steps that go with it, but… Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): There are no alarms that go into the police station from individual locations any longer. Just like at the fire department, there are no alarms that go directly in. It's all coming in through other organizations.
Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): However. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): There is technology. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): or a… Eric? Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Button, as you folks are calling it. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): That, okay, we need help quick. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And… It ties to a dialer. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): It calls the police department. No human has to do it. It's done. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): all set up. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): It goes in, they get the call, they come down and see what's going on. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): It's better than it's it's the same as a panic, maybe even a little bit better.
Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): It's right, it's just a way to get… Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): ringing or a light flashing. There's an amulet that people can wear when the place is not staffed to squeeze. They could push the button as long as it goes remotely to the device that dials up. Okay, well, I can do research on that. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): On the device part, right? Yeah. Okay. Okay. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Thank you, Fred. Delegate to myself. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I don't know. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): That's every day for me. Okay. Come sit here, I guess. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): for a mural, the parking lot outside. Will anybody give him that more thumb?
Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I saw, and… I don't remember where or where it was. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): We're talking about the generator and trying to cover that up. Yeah. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Someplace. Yeah, I saw that. Did you see that? And someone went in and took and painted. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Austin lost her day on a box in Brockport. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Okay. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Thank you. So I knew I saw it. So there is some somebody out there. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): We know that. Yeah, awesome. Walker. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Doesn't Gloucester have a committee that decides designs to make recommendations? I think they do.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): They have like a sort of formal subcommittee, but they have a little working group and that working group helps to raise the funds that are above and beyond, like Awesome Gloucester awards $1,000 micro grants once a month. Yes. Those murals cost more than that. So, they, you know, they, the working group kind of works on getting the funding as well. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): The most recent one you might have noticed is over on, Maplewood Ave, right by McDonald's. They put one on the side of that. I wish that all that fencing and stuff wasn't in the way of it, but still, it's great. But you can imagine being on the train. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah, the train comes in and goes out. This mural, that mural says that's too good.
Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Museum as well, right? Like on the tracks. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): when. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): You're going on the train. You can also see Cape Museum, right? Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): The annex and the keypads. Ohh yeah, yeah. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Like you can think about going through this area. It's kind of cool. Yeah. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Is there anything this board can do to move this forward at this point? Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): just trying to put some creativity into trying to continue to think about it. So the one thing that Sal and I Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): had kind of talked about that, that he put a visual behind, was that he had just had AI give him a depiction of, I think he fed it a picture of the side of the building, and said something about, you know, I don't know what he put in as an AI prompt. He gave me back
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Something showing a pile of… stack of lobster traps. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): on the side of the building, with the horizontal lines of the lobster traps. Yeah. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): that making the piping disappear, that heavy process piping that comes from the new generator. So Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): It, it, it seemed like a neat idea and then he coupled that with the thought, so the lobster traps and then he thought maybe of doing buoys. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Just big lobster trap buoys around the rest of the building. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Which, maybe, maybe I just need to have that
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): thought fleshed out a little bit better. The AI depiction of the buoys around the rest of the building that he got back from AI. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): for some reason AI doing what it does, it made one or 2 of those buoys into Christmas ornaments because it's picking stuff up from the Internet and lobster traps. Here in Gloucester we have the lobster trap tree. So when I saw that that got in my head that those buoys all over the building are going to look a little bit Christmassy, and because we do associate those buoys with the lobster trap tree. So that made me not Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): As much of a… fan of that idea. What about your new logo? But,
Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): your new logo in very big form on the back of the building and then having things that harken to it. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I didn't come off of it. Maybe. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): That's… yeah, I don't… I don't know if that would solve the problem of making the process piping disappear. We need an idea that has horizontal lines to kind of trompe l'oeil, you know what I mean, to do some trompe l'oeil and get that to kind of feed into the… to the artwork. So, if everyone could just keep your thinking caps on, if you're looking at… Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Interesting scene. If you see horizontal lines, let's try to think about whether or not that could work.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And I… Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Well, boats come to mind, masts. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): rooms, Rooms. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Booms. Booms. Absolutely. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah, so, Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Hmm. Ransom lines. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): There's blinds fishing. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): fishing net. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Like the inside of the YMCA has just in the natatorium, it's just like this. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Could I ask everybody to just, if…
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): in your life, thinking… so we just managed to come up with a couple ideas here. If everyone could just give that some thought and send me, how about… how about booms? How about this? How about that? Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): you know, we've got… it's great that they're interested, you know what I mean? That they're interested in doing this with us. And there's a part of me that had liked the front of the building, you know, where the panels used to be that got removed when we did the new signage, those panels that had faded badly and stuff like that. That still… Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): It has a little bit of kind of ghosting from those panels having been up there.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I, I thought… Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): If we could do something around those windows, if we could have the Gloucester Serpent, for some reason that kind of got in my head. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Nothing yoga? No. No. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): This afternoon. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah, quarter one. Really? Yep. Speaker 2 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): It's not. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): the. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): So, I had thought, wouldn't it be neat to have the Gloucester Sea Serpent go kind of up and down Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): those windows, because the panels were between the windows that are on the Roger Street side of the building.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): But that's just my little pet thing, is I like the serpent, but I don't… I don't know if that could work, because I just don't know if anything thematically Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): could tie in with the serpent that would work on that side. Although, if we went with a boat and made those lines disappear into the boat, then the serpent kind of maybe could tie in. Wouldn't that be neat to do artwork on two sides of the building? So anyway, just more stuff. I think we're going to need to… it's not a hurry. We're going to need to think long and hard about it, and then continue to talk to Sal. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Zerilya bought it.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): who I'm also… this is off… off agenda, but I also have a phone call scheduled with Sal. He's going to some, psychotherapy training, and I think as part of that training, he sent me a PowerPoint deck for an idea he has for Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And I'll talk to him on Friday and talk to the board about it more next… next month, but for an idea he has. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): to… to offer people just… just listening. Like, you're untrained people to just sit and give somebody your time to just listen to you. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And, I want to talk… I'm going to talk to him some more about that. The PowerPoint deck was interesting enough, and it reminded me of, I digress a little bit, but bear with me. There was an art exhibition a while ago in New York City where the artist… it was called The Artist is Present.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And the artist just sat there, and with a line of people, for, like, days on end, just sat there and would look down and kind of just refresh herself and steel herself, and then look back up at the next person, and the thought being to be totally present. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): To be 100% present for that person, that instant. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): people were crying, I could, I, you know what I mean? People just, just that, just making that connection, and, and yeah, it was performance art. Look into it, maybe, it's a neat thing, and maybe if you want to look into that, it could aid our discussion of Sal's idea for next week's meeting, next month's meeting.
Okay. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Mr. Chairman, it strikes me. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): that the group Everyone that they've done has been spectacular. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And I suspect… It's the artist's eye. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Looking at that space, knowing what has. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): been done in the. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): passed, Like, history of Gloucester, being local. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And… If, through ZAP, Early, he… you could get one, two, or three artists to just Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): brainstorm with you. Yeah. Look at the side of the building and say, what would you do with it?
Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Right. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah, I'll talk to him about that on Friday, because I think you're absolutely right, Barry. I think that this needs or would benefit greatly from an artist's eye. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): buy. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): What do you see there? Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah, but we, right, because we've got, we've got the piping on that side, we've got windows that would all have to go. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): potentially. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): They're going to get some work out of it. Is there a fee for having a vehicle done? Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): We're having a proposal done by one of the artists.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I don't know, that might be, that might be something that the artists do as part of their process of just Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I give… I give people quotes and ideas, and sometimes I get the work, and sometimes I don't. Maybe, I don't know, you know? Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): We've been raising my children. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Well, I said within reason I would cover. Okay. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Awesome, Fred. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Thank you. So I'll talk to Sal kind of just as it moves. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): There are A, B, and C ideas, I think, and we need an A idea.
Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And often you have to buy them in. Right. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Right, from an artist. And then a beat. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Say that's a great idea and they contribute and then see it happen. Yeah. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I still actually, that's bad on me. I still have not brought this to our artists. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): You know, so tomorrow's Thursday, the art program is in session. I will march down the hallway and just say, hey, you artists, please look at the side of the building. We want those pipes to disappear. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): What, what, what might we do? Yeah.
Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): But I think Barry's idea of a professional. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah. Is a good one. It's like a company coming in to give a quote. Yes, they give a quote. But if there were a fee attached to it, you might get more interest. Right. Okay. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): No, I'd try it free first. Right. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Let me go to, Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I believe in the power of coin. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I'll see what the process has been for the other ones. Speaker 9 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): the Rocky Neck Art Colony Group and see if if they'd be interested in in helping.
Speaker 9 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I know the head of Rocky Mountain Got a call. You do? Yeah. What a surprise. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): That's twice. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah, she's great. She was the executive director. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Discover Gloucester. Yes, I remember. Wonderful. She's fabulous. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Can you take that? Would you talk to her and see if maybe we can get a couple artists to just look at that wall and have some ideas? Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): She's in Greece with the yoga group with a lots of people right now. Nice. But when she comes back, she comes down the end, we have coffee. Okay. So we'll I'll talk to her. Wonderful.
Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Oh, great. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Thank you. Excellent. The beautification of the P4 code. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Well, I have bad news, folks. Oh, no. General sadness. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): and. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): you So, I sent an email to Susan Kelly. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): at Generous Gardeners, and she got back to me, and her comment was, sorry, but Generous Gardeners' board has decided that we are not helping other non-profits with their landscaping concerns. Okay. We're asked by everyone, and we're spread thinly enough. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Do they realize we're not a nonprofit, we're a city department?
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I don't think… But still, I think spread thinly enough is spread thinly enough. Yeah. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): So, and I think, I don't think they do. Do they do city work? Well, they do. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Everything, all the hot traffic islands. It's the fact is the. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): You're doing all of those. It's a huge, huge deal. Yeah, right. And this would require considerable upkeep. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): like that the library's garden that I guess we'll rely on volunteers. Well, no. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Because when it rains a lot, everybody has their garden to look after, and therefore they had no time to go to the library. So the library now has a set budget of $20,000 a year to look after the garden.
Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah. So with that being said, I mean, I don't know. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): where else we could turn if there's people that would volunteer. If there's a landscape company that would sponsor it, maybe sponsor it. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I wonder if backyard growers could do anything. They're more about growing food, but… Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): But pollination is important. What's the word? Pollination. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yes, and that's a desert part of the city. But do you then draw bees? Well, that's what you need. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Beehives out there, man. That would solve the problem.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): downgrade. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): We're keeping the crowd. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I'll go. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): My younger brother. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): He moved from North Florida to Worcester, brought his beehives with him. Oh, he was a big hit in the neighborhood, let me tell you. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): You know, like if you did a raised bed though, at least and had volunteers, is that, is that a reality or not really? Would it just look too, you know, inconsistent? Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I mean, it's got… Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): To look good is the thing. If it looks scraggly or neglected, it's a big problem.
Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): the. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Or, higher. Higher. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Like, you know, like a physical raised bed. Right. Yeah. 24 up. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Well, the thing about a raised bed, again, depending on. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): How high it is, how big it is, is we don't want to draw people to come back and sit. Speaker 2 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): They would. They'd sit on the edge of it. Okay. So right now I'm dealing with some of the people from the bench have now realized that, oh, I'll just go sit on the ground. So I'm dealing with a little bit of the bad behavior back, but they're just sitting on the ground.
Speaker 9 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): thing that's low maintenance. Now, this summer, I added a deck, and then it's not that far off the ground. But I got my guy, my landscape guy, did… Speaker 9 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Get me something that was going to be really low maintenance and look good. And he got me these neat rose bushes that don't grow very large. I haven't had to do a blessed thing to them. And what are they in? Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I mean, they're in the ground. I know, but we don't have any ground. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Out front, so would it have to be… Speaker 9 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): it where they are. What they did was they dug spaces and stuck them in and put some dirt with them.
Speaker 9 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): But once they're in, I don't do anything. I mean, he's, yeah, they, I even know this hot summer, I didn't have to water them or anything. They're wonderful. And they're still blooming and growing like crazy. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): The problem is it's all quantity right now. Speaker 9 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I'm just thinking if we could get something like that or even grasses, you know, those decorative grasses. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): details of what that. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Plant is around to all of us, please. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Oh, sure. Speaker 9 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Great. But even, you know, all these pretty grasses that people grow.
Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): But then you're talking about, you know, looking at. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Rotating Sculpture, offering artists a place to display their sculptures on a raised bed. Speaker 9 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): There you've got people sitting… Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): that. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Not low, so not likely to be damaged. Right. But not to the ground. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): It's it's gonna attract bots. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And I don't mean cigarette butts. People are gonna sit on anything that we put out there. Again, some of the… some of the worst characters that I had to deal with with the bench… with the bench.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): are… have started trying to come back and just sit on the ground up against the building, and have their parties, and sit there and do the same bad behavior, and I'm trying to nip that in the bud. But… Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Because they're going to sit on it, they're going to smoke and put their butts in it and they're going to pee in it. Exactly. And you're going to get nips. Speaker 10 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): So, I think. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): We just need to… Keep talking about it. I think, Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I think I can do a little just broad, broad searching, just maybe we can start with some broad searching research on just on Google or whatever, on Gemini, and just say what…
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): How can we, you know, how can we beautify a space without attracting people who are going to sit on it? We can't be the first. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): body of people to to be wrestling with this. A mural there might work. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Oh, a mural on the ground? A mural on the wall behind. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Oh! Yeah. Pretty, it's a brook area, right? It's like a flat. I know! Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): We instead of beautifying from the parking lot side, we worry about beautifying from the. Speaker 2 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Right.
Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Well, I was going to say that because… Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): The lines problem too. So you. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): To decorate a generator is, you know, neat, but the traffic is Rogers Street and Manny Lewis. So to get people to really appreciate a mural, you'd want a lot of traffic going by. Never wrapped the building. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): If we did the serpent up around the windows and then down and then around the side of the building and then down and then up to kind of match the vertical serpent at the Cape Air Museum, that could maybe be neat. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Mural, F mural.
Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Roses. Roses for Rose Bacon. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I mean, rose vines. Yeah. Oh. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Rather than a serpent. Oh, okay. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Probably the same answer. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah. Speaker 2 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): But with the climbing roses. Yes. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yay! Yes, that's a neat idea. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): College dorm room. Forget about the generator. It's in front of the package store. Ohh. And by the way. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): It's not on the agenda, but what they did to that parking lot, I.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): The people from the liquor locker came over and took it on themselves without coming over and saying, hey, Elise, can you talk to DPW about getting that parking lot restrike? They took it on themselves to hire somebody who doesn't, who's not a professional, to go out there with a can of spray paint. And our lines are now blue, even though we have literature that says if it's red lines, those are for us. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): The lines are now blue over the faded red, and they wrote no parking in an area that looked like someone has… someone was a little hesitant about how to spell parking. You can tell that they kind of went, oh, wait, there needs to be an R there, and it's… it's so…
Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): It's so bad. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And I don't even… I still just need to… I think I just need to kind of still absorb it and process it a little bit before I can even reach out to maybe… reach out to DPW and say, hey, this is… Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): The best of my knowledge, the city owns that parking lot and the liquor locker, I think, rents or has some arrangement where they get some of their spots. But I need to get more detail on what, who owns what out there. Because those blue strip spray painted lines, in my opinion, look horrible. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): 4. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Thank you for your time. Bye, Dominique. We have new, we have new, speaking of, we have new signs going out to the parking lots, but thank God I didn't mention the red lines on the new signage that I got for out there. The no smoking signs are up.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And I'm going to be working with DPW. So I'll talk to them too about getting that, getting that. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I don't know how they're going to prioritize it or where they prioritize it, but I need to at least I don't borrow. Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): woe. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): responding to citizens who were exasperated by inaction. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): painting on the street, the area where there'd been a fatality with a bus or a truck and a person on a bicycle. She came down very hard hammered. You may nobody, for no good reason, can deface city property. Well, that's what they've done.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Locker has done that. Yeah. Yeah. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Well intended or intentioned or not, you just can't have it. And they never even came up with. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): over and said, Hey, you know, but it's ongoing with them. They're terrible. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Is this common idea that it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission? Yes. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah, and once it's down, for the DPW to correct that part where it looks like someone struggled with how to spell parking. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): How do you… you know what I mean? How do you get rid of that? Like, it's… it's… it's awful. So I'll be talking to the DPW about that. The good news there is that the no smoking signs are up.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Which people are, of course, ignoring on a regular basis, but when I come and go, or anybody else comes and goes that doesn't like the fact that they're smoking right by the door, at least they can turn around and point to the sign. And people mostly do move where they go, oh, oh, oh, and move away, so… Move away. It's a marginal part. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Barry, do we know whether the generator is equipped for the exercise program? It is. It is? Good. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Quick question through the chair. Elise, have they contacted you about how you know. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): if. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): the the… Trip switch.
Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): That's on the side of it. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): alarms into the building. Have they contacted you to tell you how that's going to sound, so that if you arrive and there's a buzzer going off, or a light flashing? No, they have not. That's all I needed to know. Thank you. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): That they might have, but they might have contacted the custodial staff. You know what I mean? DPW's representative on the scene here is the custodian. And we do have Sheila back on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, by the way. So I will check and see if our custodial staff has any knowledge about what noises might come out of that thing and what they mean.
Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Two months ago, they promised the fire chief and myself. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): that it would be taken care of. Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Oh. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): They'd reach out to staff here. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): You do, you can check with Sheila or you can check with the custodian. I don't believe they. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): told them anything. Yeah. I've gotta deal with my issue. Okay. Which is a public safety issue and, and a threat. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): to… Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): It's a threat to the security of that generator.
Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): So I'll deal with it. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Oh, okay. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Replacing failing obsolete windows. I don't know here again for delegation to determine the capital budget funding, but again, that's probably something that I can do. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): It's so bad, Fred. The windows are just. Yeah. I went to lock up and leave the other night and noticed that the art room window was open, so it came back in. Go up. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): there's a suction cup that I have to stick on it, pull it forward, because it's completely busted, and I… Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah, anyway, yeah, I need to have.
Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): another appointment with the mayor, and so I will tie that in. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): It was he who said, insisted that there was capital funding for this building, independent of the schools, and that it's a question of getting in Beckenburg. But now I need to ask for a dollar figure. Whatever dollar figure they have, I'm sure it's probably a fraction of what it actually will cost. Right. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Barry, do you mean there's capital funding? Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): in existence for this building, or it's closed. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Or it's proposed. No, it's in. It's in. Yeah, it has been, and it probably has not been utilized.
Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Sold that one. Yeah, it's just hiding somewhere, you know. Not hiding, it's in the books. Yeah, exactly. Because nobody wants to go find it. That's how we got the generator. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): We were turned down the last time by City Council Budget Finance. Sorry, not this year, but in fact, two years prior, the money was allocated, was on the books. And it was sitting in there? We're just sitting there. Okay. Yeah, so… Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Where are we? Let's see, Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Elise, grant funding for the, Speaker 8 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): doors, and I haven't been able to… Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah, anywhere but that. Okay. And the same thing, again, capital budget for the hinged guard.
Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And I asked the mayor to come down. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): With a skeptical eye, please look at that door and imagine. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): a wheelchair stuck, whatnot, and he agreed he would do so, so I need to circle back with him. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Upgrade increased security lighting. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Anywhere? Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): People… does… IT, like, have a… Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I have a Rose Baker list. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): that you can refer to, or they can refer to, give you updates on stuff? I don't think so.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I can talk to John about it at Manager's Meeting Bar. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I mean, otherwise you have to sell these things each time you make the proposal, yeah? Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah, that's And there's no age on your request. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Because that's on the Gortless side, right? Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): But it really is not decent light. Now we're getting darker. I don't find… Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I don't feel like that's a need that I've noticed, to be honest. If that's a need that's, I feel like that's been on the agenda for so long that I don't even know kind of where it's being addressed.
Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): It's fall and winter when people leave the building and go into the darkness. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): It's just a fearful issue. Speaker 10 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Well, and… Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Because this is our bus stop, if there's something that CADA can assist with. Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Okay. Let me know, because financially, we may be able to… So we maybe could… Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): do some, right, but I don't know, how does that fall under an IT project, outdoor security lighting? Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I don't know. I think right. Pw, I think right. It is, because I think the.
Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I think it was Michael that suggested I move that. It had been moved to an IT. I'll inquire. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I just remember being here at night for the drag bingo coming out in pitch black. Yeah. And it's really. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Front door or parking lot door? Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I came out the front door. Okay. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): It's black, so if… If Kate… Speaker 9 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): there. Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): On that side, but we can help. Speaker 3 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): financially, with lighting, we can try to figure it out, I just need the city to work with us to actually get it in there, because it's a city building. Right. So we're gonna have to talk to somebody who, if CADA buys.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): A lighting set, and we gift it Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Somebody else is installed. Yeah, okay. So let me start that conversation with, JD, who's my DPW, kind of… I think he's, like, a project manager. He's been great with Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): with, like, the painting, the sign, and he's been… JD's been great. So, let me email JD, Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Just to kind of get the conversation started, email. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Okay. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): About CADA buying hardware. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Now, you also… you need a wireless monitor, correct?
Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Or… Security cameras, so wiring is not required. It can be done with a wireless monitor, yeah? Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I don't know. That's what Tony piped up saying. You know, you could certainly do this, that you would needn't wait, have, and that that wireless monitor that could be moved around the building, if need be. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): That would be great, if there was a wireless monitor that could be moved around the building, too. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): But that would enable to have it in your office. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah. Without… complicated wiring, just have a wireless monitor. Right.
Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah? Yeah. Again, asking IT. I… Yeah. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): They would procure the monitor. The monitor has to match Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Whatever the camera system is. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Okay. To be functional. All right. And a share of your grant funding. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): We'd cover that. What grant? The grant. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): The check you got. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Oh, the gift, okay. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): But I… I… Okay. We're talking a couple hundred dollars. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): How many? A couple of hundred. Okay. Oh, a couple hundred, you think? For a monitor? Sure. Okay. Yeah, it's a dumb monitor. No, no, camera's there, see? Oh, okay. Camera's there. No, it's a dumb monitor. It's not high fancy, it just receives that signal.
Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Okay. Of the camera. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah, there… there are times that Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): it would, yeah, that I think it would be nice to have that in my office, but there are some other times where that feels like it could be… Speaker 11 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Like a bit of a… Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): burden to try to keep an eye on one more thing, you know what I mean? Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): If you want it there, you can go get it and bring it into your office. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): You're the only person in the building, for example. You really ought to have access to… you don't have to go investigate a noise, you look at the camera to see.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah, tell me about it when I am the only person in the building. Well, exactly, I want to cover that before. Speaker 11 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Very. You don't have to look at it. Speaker 9 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I mean, you can push somewhere. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Now… Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Out of the way. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Just one. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Monitor. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): There are security cameras for security cameras, not one inside this building. I don't know. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): There's one that's, if there is one inside the building, it's only just inside the front door, but they're intended to kind of be security cameras for the exterior, for the entryways.
Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Some, those cameras, unless they're dumb cameras. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And I won't go any deeper than that. You follow what a dumb camera is. It's just a prop to make people believe. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): These are, we've asked IT to get us footage. Yeah, so if they're real. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): That signal is going to IT. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): electronically. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And as you're saying, dumb terminal, it may be a laptop. Yeah. You have it on your computer and all you do is flick over to that. You can see the monitor. That's true. Because they're monitoring it. Right.
Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): of the city. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I might not even need new hardware, I might just need a way to… Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): other than them giving you the permission to see what's going on at your building. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): That sounds easy. That's all the… Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): key. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): through here. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Okay, cool. Okay. That's progress. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): That does feel like progress. Thank you. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Items for the next agenda.
Speaker 11 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Anybody? Speaker 11 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah, ours. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah, the stuff we've mentioned. More talk about the mural. All the murals are going to be ours. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): the. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): effort. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah. Thank you, Susan. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Good friends and board members, I'll install the virtues of having cataract surgery, if anybody hasn't had it, because I've now had it, and I can see you with the clarity that Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): My good eye, you're 12. This eye, you're not 12. It's absolutely astonishing. And the amount of light that I see. Yeah, wow. That's really cool. You've had it done? Yeah, yeah. Oh, Suzanne, isn't it fabulous? Yeah, the the light.
Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): light, yeah. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): the. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Barrett, you too? Yeah, we're both done. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I go next week to have two sets of glasses with me. I haven't had a set of glasses with my shirt. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): 3 years now, and that's… well, I will have long distance, because I… Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): said how important it is that I can spot a lobster buoy. That's important, because Nix is not going to be picking a lobster buoy off the trailer of my boat. But, Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): So, just an exhilarating feeling. It's a new lease.
Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): So do not delay anybody. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): If I could just let the board know too, I've got a couple surgeries coming up, just to kind of if we could be aware of that. I'm getting carpal tunnel released this Friday. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Which isn't going to be that much of a big deal, but then right now it's scheduled for the Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Friday, the 23rd of October. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): that I'm going to get an eyelid lift surgery, because my eyelids are interfering with my field of vision, and that is a bigger deal. I'll be out probably for a few days, and I suspect that my Halloween costume is going to be a boxer.
Speaker 11 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): It'll work. It'll work. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): A losing box, that won't work. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Either that or the big glasses and Jackie O. No, but I don't know. Speaker 11 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I should buy your book with Jackie Day. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Oh, I vote for Jackie O. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): The O2 scarf around my head. Speaker 11 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): on that. Okay. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): But that'll, yeah, I'll be looking a little rough for a while. It won't be as easy as cataract surgery. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I learned something interesting, which… I didn't, I can't fathom. In Australia, you can't write checks anymore. No.
Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): My friend that grew up in West Gloucester is coming to visit me for a couple months, and she said we can't, and she's trying to get her all her monies and bills paid ahead of time because she's gonna be here three months and a month of Paris. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And she said, can't write checks. And Carol's not the best with IT, and, you know, and so I checked, I googled it, and you don't write checks anymore in Australia, so the older population Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): that doesn't pay bills online. I don't know how that would work. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I don't think we'll ever come to this country. I think people.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): People would be freaked out about that. Eventually, I mean, never is a long time. Eventually, it's… Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): It's a dinosaur way to do things, so I mean, eventually it's gotta go, but, could you… if you googled whether or not it was really true, could you try a Google search that just says… that says, you know. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): What about the older population that doesn't and see what are they doing to kind of solve it for their own? Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Google it. Yeah, I just Googled it to make sure she was right. She was talking about it. But yeah, I don't know how they. How old is she, may I ask?
Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): She's 78, she's my age. So she must have friends who. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): What's her, what are her friends' experiences on the ground with not being able to write checks? I don't know. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I have a feeling probably her friends are more. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): comfortable with paying bills online. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I write very few checks, but only to companies where I think they've screwed up my bills in the past and I want to go over with a comb before I pay them. Although, I mean, things like utility bills and whatnot are easily deducted, but credit card stuff and whatnot, I would never let them pay themselves.
Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Never. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I don't know if that's a trend or what the story is, but of course Australia has such a smaller population than like this country. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): This all… this conversation all fits into the… Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): the rubbish barrels. Let me explain how. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): quickly. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): The rubbish barrel program, as far as I'm concerned, I give the DPW high marks on for their communication, the system they set up. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): But, as the staff here found out. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Probably 50% of the senior population.
Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Doesn't interact with computers every day, and… Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): The only mechanism to order the barrels was online. And I'm not saying that was a fault, because I think the rest of the program went fine. I think that's more for this board to Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): realize and understand, like Chuck's have gone from Australia, that these are the things that the seniors are missing. And just for the next agenda, a little discussion on Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): How do we… How do we… Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): How do we help seniors? Anticipation. Anticipation of this stuff. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Yeah, that's a good way to put it. Anticipation.
Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): stuff. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): That's. Speaker 11 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): big subject matter. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): to bite off is how do we help smooth that transition to a completely electronic world. Speaker 9 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): No. Last time I complained about the trash thing. Well, Mike Hale took care of me. I can now put my trash things at the bottom of my driveway for the first time in 20 years. They came last week and they picked them up right there. I'm just in heaven that morning. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): What happened? Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Volvador. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): getting.
Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): guy that could make it happen. That's right. Mike is a good DPW director. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): about. Speaker 6 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I just. Speaker 9 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I didn't realize what a luxury that was. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And also, get to the right person. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): First luxury is having someone else take your damn trash out. That's the luxury. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Very. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Joseph. Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): No, Middle East. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): When I've had… Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): So I've had conversations a lot of times people want to interview me about digital equity. And every time I'm interacting with somebody about digital equity, I always say true digital equity.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Right now, and we maybe need to move as a society along to a place where Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Everything can be digital, but for right now, people concerned with digital equity must remember that there needs to be a non-digital way to do things still, because there's still a segment of the population that is not going to do it. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): And I think one of the things we learned through that process of all the people coming here and wanting us to go online and get their senior discount and change their barrel size. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Change that bin size. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): I can't believe how many people sat there and said, oh, I told us, as we were doing it for them, that they could have done it, they just didn't want it.
Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): So that the point to the point that we as a society right now, we're. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): We're on a continuum, right, of things becoming more and more digital. All of us individuals are on a continuum of our comfort level with that. What we saw was a bunch of people who can do it, but they consider that to be more arduous than coming down here and asking one of us to do it for them. So… Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): How do we address that continuum? How do we, as a Council on Aging. Speaker 5 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Make some kind of chip that we can make in that challenge. So yeah, this is. Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): This is a good subject for history. Motion to adjourn.
Speaker 4 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): Motion. Thank you, Suzanne. Second. Good. All in favor? Aye. Awesome. Time is 11:15. Speaker 1 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): No, it's in people, not like… Speaker 7 (RBSC - Upstairs Conference): One second. You know, the new direction.
