College roundup: Gordon, Endicott and Salem State

Endicott football rolled at homecoming and Gordon volleyball has won seven straight. Local players to watch include a Gloucester defender and a Manchester forward at Salem State.

Endicott football stayed unbeaten, Gordon volleyball kept winning and Salem State men's soccer is 6 and 1 with a tie. Here is how the three North Shore colleges did from Saturday, Sept. 26, through Wednesday, Sept. 30.

Endicott

The Gulls beat Husson 35 to 6 at homecoming Saturday. Endicott is 4 and 0 and nationally ranked.

Volleyball won twice. It beat Roger Williams 3 sets to 1 at home Saturday and won 3 to 1 at Nichols on Tuesday. The Gulls have won five straight. They are 9 and 3 and 3 and 0 in the conference.

Women's soccer won 2 to 1 at Springfield on Tuesday. The team is 6 and 1 with a tie.

Men's soccer tied No. 10 Bowdoin 1 to 1 on the road Tuesday. Endicott is 3 and 2 with four ties.

Field hockey took a six-game winning streak and a 7 and 2 record into Wednesday night's home game against Keene State. The result had not posted when we checked.

Freshman Tor Gjerde of Essex is on the Endicott men's rugby roster. The Gulls host Bowdoin on Friday night.

Gordon

Volleyball beat the University of New England 3 sets to 2 in Biddeford, Maine, on Tuesday. The Fighting Scots have won seven straight and are 9 and 5.

Both soccer teams won at Johnson & Wales in Providence on Monday. The women won 1 to 0 and the men won 2 to 0. The men are 4 and 3 with a tie. The women are 3 and 4 with a tie.

Women's tennis won 6 to 1 at Nichols on Tuesday for its third straight win. Gordon is 3 and 3.

Field hockey lost 6 to 0 to Roger Williams at home Wednesday, then fell 3 to 0 to Nichols at home Thursday, Oct. 1, in a game moved from Sept. 26. The Scots are 1 and 9 and 0 and 4 in the Conference of New England. They play at Endicott on Saturday.

Salem State

Men's soccer tied Framingham State 0 to 0 on the road Saturday. The Vikings are 6 and 1 with a tie. Senior defender Yuniel Sanchez of Gloucester and junior forward Naderson Curtis of Manchester, a Manchester Essex graduate, are on the roster.

Junior Joe Orlando of Gloucester, a Gloucester High graduate, plays on the men's golf team.

It was a hard week for the rest of the Vikings. Women's soccer lost 1 to 0 to Framingham State at home Saturday and 1 to 0 at Plymouth State on Tuesday. Field hockey lost 7 to 0 at Worcester State on Tuesday. Volleyball lost 3 sets to 1 at Framingham State on Saturday. Women's tennis lost 7 to 0 at UMass Dartmouth on Tuesday.
