Using Cape Ann Classroom in Google Classroom

You control your class, due dates and posting. Our files just make it easy.

What the Share to Classroom button does

Each teacher guide has Google's official Share to Classroom button. It posts a link to the lesson's student page as an assignment, announcement or material in a class you choose. It does not import the whole lesson, the teacher guide or the files. You still pick the class, points and due date, and you post it.

Give each student an editable copy

  1. Get the file into your Google Drive. Either open our Google Docs, Slides or Sheets template link and choose Make a copy, or download the Word, PowerPoint or Excel file and upload it to Drive (in Drive: New, then File upload). To convert an upload, open it and choose File, then Save as Google Docs (or Slides or Sheets).
  2. In Classroom, open your class, choose Classwork, then Create, then Assignment.
  3. Paste the assignment title and student instructions from the "Google Classroom: ready to paste" box in the teacher guide.
  4. Choose Add (or the Drive icon), then Google Drive, and pick your copy of the student handout.
  5. Next to the attachment, choose Make a copy for each student. Google allows this only before you post, so set it first. For slides students only read, choose Students can view file.
  6. Set points (each teacher guide suggests a number) and a due date, then post, schedule or save a draft.

Keep answers private

Teacher guides with answers are separate files. Never attach a teacher guide to student work. Student handouts and slides contain no answers.

Quizzes

Some lessons will include Google Forms quiz templates. A Word or data file does not turn into a Forms quiz on its own; where a Forms template exists, the teacher guide links to it and you make your own copy.

What you do not need

Student privacy

We collect no student names, grades, submissions or rosters, and our lesson pages set no cookies. The Share to Classroom button, on teacher pages only, loads a Google script. Student work stays in your school's systems.
