Good morning, Rockport. It's Monday, October 5. From the Cape Ann Current, I'm Kerry Jane, with your Rockport Daily Brief. Today, a new voter guide is live with everything you need to know for the November election.

The Cape Ann Current has launched a free voter guide. All three Rockport precincts vote on Broadway on Tuesday, November 3. Early voting takes place at the Town Clerk's office, and includes Sunday, October 25. The guide covers the Fifth Essex District House candidates, the nine statewide ballot questions, and key deadlines.
The Select Board meets Tuesday at 6 p.m. on Zoom. The board will vote on downtown festivities for Christmas in Rockport, the state election warrant, and four public works contracts. Members will also consider a joint lawyer for Comcast cable negotiations, and interview candidates for two town committees.
A new property tax page from the Current lets you compare bills across Cape Ann. Rockport's average single family tax bill for fiscal 2026 is 8,548 dollars, based on an average home value of just over 1 million dollars. While the tax rate has fallen since fiscal 2017, the average bill has risen 41 percent.
The Granite Pier Committee meets today at 5 p.m.
Today at Granite Pier, Dianne Panarelli Miller leads a live painting demonstration from noon to 1:30 p.m. On Tuesday, the library hosts board game time for adults from 2 to 3:45 p.m.
In high school sports, the field hockey team visits Manchester Essex today at 4 p.m. On Tuesday, the girls soccer team travels to Manchester Essex at 4 p.m., while the boys soccer team hosts the Hornets at 6 p.m.
The National Weather Service expects a sunny Monday with a high near 67, and west winds gusting to 25 miles per hour. A small craft advisory takes effect at 3 p.m. High tides run at 7:07 a.m. and 7:28 p.m.
