Good morning, Essex. It's Thursday, October 22. From the Cape Ann Current, I'm Kerry Jane, with your Essex Daily Current, free public information for Essex. Today we look at dates for the fall town meeting.

Selectmen on Monday signed the warrant for the fall town meeting, set for Monday, November 16 at 6:45 p.m. at Essex Elementary School. Voters will also decide on the 95.4 million dollar school project at the ballot box on Thursday, December 10. Voting runs from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Public Safety Facility.

A regional committee preparing for cable contract talks with Comcast met Wednesday. The group put off choosing a chair because the Essex town administrator was absent. A survey presented at the meeting drew 202 responses, including 48 from Essex. Nearly half of the respondents do not subscribe to Comcast, and more watch local programs on YouTube than on cable.

The Board of Health meets tonight at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, Shepard Memorial Park hosts the 41st Annual Essex ClamFest from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Also on Saturday, the Essex Shipbuilding Museum holds a Pirate Party fundraiser.

In high school sports, Manchester Essex field hockey beat Essex Tech 2 to 0 on Wednesday. Today, boys soccer hosts Essex Tech at 4 p.m. Girls soccer plays at Essex Tech at 5 p.m. Tomorrow night, the football team hosts Malden at 6:30 p.m.

The National Weather Service expects a mostly cloudy and windy day today, with a high near 58 and wind gusts up to 32 miles per hour. A gale warning is in effect on the bays. High tides in the Essex River are at 9:02 a.m. and 9:18 p.m.
