Good morning, Gloucester. It's Thursday, October 22. From the Cape Ann Current, I'm Kerry Jane, with your Gloucester Daily Current, free public information for Gloucester. Today we look at a cable television survey and a city budget vote.
The regional committee negotiating a new Comcast cable agreement met Wednesday. It reviewed a survey of 202 residents, including 94 from Gloucester. According to the presentation, more people watch local programs on YouTube than on cable. The Gloucester member said the committee needs more technical detail on high definition support for the talks.
On Tuesday, October 13, the City Council approved about 234,000 dollars in spending requests. The Budget and Finance Committee backed the money on Thursday, October 8. The total includes state grants for the 911 center and 12,000 dollars from savings for new wayfinding signs. During the committee review, one councilor said the signs cost far too much.
