Good morning, Rockport. It's Thursday, October 22. From the Cape Ann Current, I'm Kerry Jane, with your Rockport Daily Current, free public information for Rockport. Today we look at a regional cable survey.
The regional committee negotiating a new Comcast cable agreement met Wednesday and reviewed a survey of 202 residents. According to the presentation, 39 responses came from Rockport. Nearly half of all respondents do not subscribe to Comcast, and more people watch local meetings on YouTube than on cable. The committee includes Rockport Town Administrator Mitchell Vieira. Members put off choosing a chair until all four towns can attend.
Public meetings today include the Town Art Committee at 11 a.m. The Historical Commission meets at 4 p.m. The Planning Board Seasonal Communities Subcommittee meets at 6:30 p.m.
The Cape Ann Community Cinema hosts a staged play reading tonight at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Brackett's Ocean View hosts Carol Lee's Cottage Pop Up Sale from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
In high school sports, Lynnfield beat Rockport 2 to 0 in field hockey on Wednesday. The schedule shows no score yet for Tuesday's girls soccer game against Amesbury. Today, Rockport girls soccer travels to Lynnfield at 4 p.m., and the boys soccer team hosts Lynnfield at 6 p.m.
The National Weather Service expects a mostly cloudy and windy day today, with a high near 58 and gusts up to 32 miles per hour. A gale warning is in effect on the water. High tides in Rockport are at 8:53 a.m. and 9:10 p.m.
