Search the maritime archive
What this collection covers. These pages hold only the records our news desk has checked so far. They are not a complete list of Cape Ann people or vessels lost at sea. The City of Gloucester's own Lost at Sea register, the largest source, says it is incomplete and was last compiled in 2010. Rockport, Essex and Manchester-by-the-Sea have no comparable public register, so their records come from town histories, newspapers and archives we are still working through.

What the search covers
The search includes every one of the 6,626 entries in the City of Gloucester's Lost at Sea register, as the city recorded them, each linked to its page in the city's PDF; the 131 lines of Manchester's 1895 town history list; and the incidents our news desk has reviewed in depth. Download the full register index. Lists from private websites and museums whose terms require permission, such as the Essex Shipbuilding Museum's vessel list, are not included.
