Gloucester High's football team sits third in Division 5 in the MIAA's first state tournament power rankings of the season, released this week.

The Fishermen are 2 and 1, with an average margin of 6 points a game as the MIAA counts it, capping any one game at 14 points. Only Swampscott and Shawsheen Valley Tech rank higher in the division.

Manchester Essex, 0 and 3, is 24th in Division 7.

The rankings count games entered by 4 a.m. on Sept. 29. The MIAA updates them through the season and uses the final rankings to seed the state tournament.
