The committee planning a new Essex Elementary School holds two community meetings in the next 10 days, the Manchester Essex Regional School District calendar shows.

The meetings

  • Thursday, Oct. 29, 6 to 8 p.m.: Essex School Building Committee community meeting, Essex Elementary School cafeteria, 12 Story St.
  • Wednesday, Nov. 4, 6 to 8 p.m.: Essex School Building Committee community meeting, Essex Elementary School.

The Essex Board of Selectmen posted the Nov. 4 meeting on its own agenda. The board's only item that night is "Attendance at Manchester Essex School Building Community Meeting," at 6 p.m. at the school. That means a quorum of the board may be there.

The building committee also holds its regular business meeting Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 6 p.m. in the Essex Elementary School cafeteria, and again Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 6 p.m. Its communications working group meets online Friday, Oct. 30, at 11:30 a.m.

No agenda or presentation for the two community meetings was posted when this was written. Check the district's school building project page before you go.

Where the project stands

On Oct. 13 the building committee voted 10 to 0 to approve the schematic design, at $95,351,985, and send it to the state. Town meetings vote Nov. 16, and ballot votes follow Dec. 10. (Read about the design vote.)

The Essex selectmen signed the town's fall warrant on Oct. 19 and set the Dec. 10 school election. (Read what the selectmen did.)
