Essex selectmen will walk residents through the articles on the fall town meeting warrant on Monday, Nov. 2, two weeks before the Nov. 16 town meeting. Here is what Monday's posted agendas say.
Essex Board of Selectmen, 6 p.m.
The board meets in the third floor auditorium at Town Hall, 30 Martin St., and online. The agenda lists:
- At 6:05 p.m., a public hearing on a change of manager for Marshview Farm Store.
- At 6:15 p.m., a discussion of the articles on the fall town meeting warrant, with public comment and questions, and work on a list of frequently asked questions about the articles for the town website and social media. Read how the board signed the warrant on Oct. 19.
- At 6:30 p.m., a joint meeting with the Board of Public Works and the Finance Committee about public works projects, planning, town meeting, the budget and operations.
- Whether the board will vote to support any or all of the warrant articles.
- Another look at, and a possible vote on, the makeup of the screening committee for the town's new full-time fire chief. Read how Essex planned the search.
- A request from the Manchester Essex Little League to put advertising signs on the fence at the Field of Dreams, which the agenda says needs zoning relief and a new policy.
- A complaint about a voter who could not vote early when the town clerk had to be away from Town Hall for part of a day.
- Design and construction money for the Centennial Grove erosion control project, holiday garlands on the Essex River Bridge and at Paglia Park, a Citizens' Police Academy, and trading the harbormaster's boat Marine 1 for a fuel credit.
The town administrator's report covers a draft social media policy, the town accountant search, the Centennial Grove restrooms, the DeSoto Road watermain project, a ResilientCoasts technical assistance grant and a Gloucester coal tar pollution settlement grant.
