Question 6: should Massachusetts create the Nature for All Fund for land, water and parks?

Question 6 would create a state fund for land, water, parks and trails, paid for by part of a sales tax the state already collects. Our explainer covers what each vote does and who is paying for each side.

Question 6 would create the Nature for All Fund, paid for by part of the state sales tax on sporting goods, recreational vehicles and golf courses. The Legislature would still vote on how much is spent.

A Yes vote creates the fund. A No vote does not.

Supporters say it provides steady money for water, land and parks without a new tax. Opponents say earmarking tax money creates an unstable budget and could displace existing state funding.

As of Oct. 26, the Yes committee had reported about $3.7 million, and no committee against was listed, according to the state Office of Campaign and Political Finance.
