School calendar: committee meetings, an Oct. 7 half day and an Essex Elementary forum

Manchester Essex students have a half day Wednesday, Oct. 7, and the Essex School Building Committee holds a community meeting the next night.

Families in all three Cape Ann school districts have meetings and schedule changes to watch next week.

Manchester Essex

The Manchester Essex Regional School Committee meets Tuesday, Oct. 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the middle and high school Learning Commons. The agenda had not been posted as of Wednesday. (Read what is on the agenda.) The committee meets again Oct. 20.

Wednesday, Oct. 7, is a half day for students so staff can attend professional development, according to the district calendar. There is no school Monday, Oct. 12, for Indigenous Peoples' Day and Columbus Day.

Essex Elementary project

The Essex School Building Committee holds a community meeting Thursday, Oct. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Essex Elementary School, according to the district calendar, and another Tuesday, Oct. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Manchester Memorial Elementary School. The committee's communications working group meets online Friday, Oct. 2, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The full building committee also meets Oct. 13 and Oct. 27, and a second community meeting is set for Oct. 29. All three are listed for 6 p.m. in the Essex Elementary cafeteria.

Gloucester

The Gloucester School Committee's Building and Finance Subcommittee meets Wednesday, Oct. 7. The full School Committee meets Oct. 14 and Oct. 28. Meeting times, agendas and remote links are posted on the City of Gloucester's online calendar, and packets go up the day of each meeting, the district says.

The district calendar shows no school Monday, Oct. 12, for Columbus Day.

Rockport

The Rockport School Committee is scheduled to meet Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m. in the Brenner Room of the Rockport Public Library, 17 School St., according to the library's calendar. The library also lists a meeting there Oct. 21.

Update, Oct. 4: The school district's calendar now lists the Essex School Building Committee community meetings on Thursday, Oct. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Essex Elementary School and Tuesday, Oct. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Manchester Memorial Elementary School, matching the Essex selectmen's postings. Earlier versions of this story gave the district's earlier listing of Wednesday, Oct. 7.
