The National Weather Service in Norton expects the following in Gloucester, in its 5:46 a.m. update:
- Today: Sunny, with a high near 59. Northwest wind of 3 to 12 mph.
- Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 44.
- Sunday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 60. South wind of 3 to 10 mph.
- Sunday night: Rain showers after 7 p.m., with a low around 54. Chance of rain 100 percent. A half to three quarters of an inch of rain is possible.
- Columbus Day: Rain showers before 11 a.m., then mostly cloudy, with a high near 62. Chance of rain 90 percent.
- Monday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 52.
- Tuesday: Rain showers likely after 7 a.m., with a high near 61. Chance of rain 60 percent.
On the water
No marine advisories are posted for Massachusetts Bay and Ipswich Bay this morning. Today, northwest winds of 10 to 15 knots with gusts up to 20 knots, easing to 5 to 10 knots this afternoon, with seas around 2 feet. Sunday, south winds of 5 to 10 knots and seas of 1 to 2 feet. Sunday night, winds turn east at 10 to 15 knots after midnight with showers. Monday, northeast winds of 10 to 15 knots, gusts up to 20 knots and seas of 2 to 3 feet, with showers in the morning. Tuesday, east winds of 10 to 15 knots with gusts up to 25 knots and showers likely.

High tides in Gloucester Harbor, according to NOAA predictions:
- Saturday: 11:41 a.m. (10 feet). Low tides at 5:24 a.m. and 5:51 p.m.
- Sunday: 12:07 a.m. (9.5 feet) and 12:20 p.m. (10 feet). Low tides at 6:05 a.m. and 6:34 p.m.
- Columbus Day: 12:49 a.m. (9.2 feet) and 12:58 p.m. (9.9 feet). Low tides at 6:44 a.m. and 7:15 p.m.
Rockport's high tides come about 2 minutes earlier than Gloucester Harbor's. In the Essex River, they come about 10 to 13 minutes later.
