Amesbury beat Manchester Essex football 46 to 8 yesterday. The Hornets fall to 0 and 4. There are no varsity games today. In the latest state power rankings, the field hockey team is 10th in Division 4 with a 6, 2 and 1 record. Kiernan Day leads the Hornets with 15 points, and goalie Maeve McArdle has 6 wins and 5 shutouts. Boys soccer ranks 25th in Division 4, and girls soccer is 30th. On Monday, the field hockey team hosts Rockport at 4 p.m.
The Manchester Essex Regional School Committee meets Tuesday, October 6. The principals of Memorial School and Essex Elementary will update the committee on improvement plans and the 2027 budget outlook. The meeting runs from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in the middle and high school Learning Commons and online. The agenda also includes a report from the elementary facilities subcommittee.
Expect a sunny and cool weekend. The Weather Service forecasts a high near 61 today and 59 tomorrow, with a chance of showers Sunday night. The region remains in a Level 1 mild drought.
