Scoreboard: Gloucester field hockey stays unbeaten at 8 and 0, plus Thursday's results and Friday football

The Fishermen beat Danvers 5 to 2 and host Beverly, the NEC's other unbeaten team, on Tuesday. North Reading beat Rockport girls soccer 5 to 1, and both football teams play Friday night.

Thursday, Oct. 1: Gloucester 5, Danvers 2, field hockey

Gloucester field hockey is still perfect. The Fishermen beat Danvers 5 to 2 at home on Thursday and are 8 and 0. Read the full story.

The big one is next: Gloucester hosts Beverly on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 4:30 p.m. at Gloucester High School. Beverly is 6 and 1 and unbeaten in the Northeastern Conference, so it is a meeting of the league's only two unbeaten teams.

Thursday, Oct. 1: North Reading 5, Rockport 1, girls soccer

North Reading beat Rockport 5 to 1 in a Cape Ann League game on Thursday, according to SI High School and the North Reading paper Local Headline News. The Hornets are 6 and 2 and unbeaten in league play. Scorers were not posted.

Rockport visits Manchester Essex on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 4 p.m.
