Good morning, Manchester by the Sea. It's Thursday, October 1. From the Cape Ann Current, I'm Kerry Jane, with your Manchester by the Sea Daily Brief. Today we look at an upcoming flu clinic.

Residents 18 and older can get a flu shot at the town's standard dose clinic on Wednesday, October 7. The Board of Health clinic runs from 9 a.m. to noon at the American Legion Hall. Appointments are required and there are no walk ins. Registration links are online.

The committee planning the new Essex Elementary School put off setting a target price on September 22 to see what could be cut. For Manchester by the Sea residents, a community meeting on the project is scheduled for Tuesday, October 13. A town meeting vote is planned for November 16, followed by a debt exclusion vote on December 10.

Two new wellness businesses have opened on Beach Street. Renew by the Sea Regenerative Care offers chiropractic therapies at 17 Beach Street. Next door at 17B, A'mi Nail Studio holds a free grand opening open house on Thursday, October 8, from 4 to 6 p.m.

Today, the public library hosts Pajama Storytime in the Children's Room from 6 to 7 p.m. Also today, the boys golf team hosts Rockport from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Manchester Essex field hockey beat Newburyport 2 to 0 yesterday for its second straight shutout. The boys soccer team won 4 to 0 at Hamilton Wenham on Tuesday, while the girls soccer team lost 1 to 0 to Hamilton Wenham. In football, the Hornets host Amesbury tomorrow at 6:30 p.m.

The National Weather Service expects partly sunny skies today with a high near 72. Tomorrow is expected to bring a high near 73 and a chance of showers at night, followed by a forecast for a sunny, cooler weekend. Afternoon high tides are predicted near 10 feet.
